My 73 Roadrunner Project

Got Headers??????

Got my stuff from TTI today, now I just need my motor! LOL

Sweet ride like to see it all coming together. Just saw this post, seems like you are putting the parts together fast! Did you save enough to do it all at once? Or you buying parts here and there?

Being on a low budget and no time to save, I'm slowly but surely reinforcing my drivetrain/suspension. All that's is left is new tires, alignment, possibly electric fans, and my exhaust hung. Then I can start saving for that sweet paint job.

I saved up to do it all, it took a while, and I am over budget, but that's ok, its getting closer to being done!

Coming Right Along......

She's looking good !!!! You will love those headers. I used them on my last 2 restorations. Fit and quality. They've got it!!!!

I try to buy things for my car when I can. My wife is used to me having car parts stashed in strategic places throughout the house....

Budget? You had a BUDGET????? Budget is what you have to live off after you finish!!!!!!

Seriously, your project is really coming along and looking fine. Can't wait to see it done!!

Got the back glass back in, original glass and original trim. I did a clean and buff and polish on the trim. It was a pain in the bean bag getting it right with the mastic type seal, a bit of fiddling, and should have used the larger diameter bead, but its not gonna move or go anywhere.

Update

Brakes are completed, just need to bleed them, the e-brake is now operational and the rear sway bar is installed. Got the endlinks from Firm Feel, and they work out real nice.
Here are some photos.

Great restoration thread.

Thanks. Got the fuel tank in now.

I hope to have some more tomorrow of the rear with bump stops and lower valence on plus I have my seats now!

Some more updates on the build.

Seats, I will have to take some pictures of the under side, as the upholstery shop did a real nice job decking the frames and the frames were cleaned up, sprayed with rust preventer and painted.

Rear bump stops are on, I cleaned up the rubber parts, filled all the gouges and scratches and sprayed with plastic coat and lower valance is now installed since the gas tank is in.

Got the transmission back and its all ready to go in as soon as I get the motor back. Considering it was not serviced in 25 years it was not too bad, complete overhaul kit, front and rear bands replaced, new bushing kit and a bolt in sprag plus torque converter for 2200 to 2400 stall. The transmission is heavy duty and originally built as a B&M street strip version.

Fun times with the car is just around the corner.

Some more updates

Got my rear wheels, still waiting for the fronts, but did a test fit, very snug! Should be real nice with some tread on them!!!

Also dropped off the accessories today for the motor and it is now being assembled, so got a couple of photos. Should be done next week!!!!

That roadrunner is looking amazing. You're doing a fantastic job and it really shows in your work.

Agreed! i love that shade of color and the white interior is going to add a lot of SWEET to it.. Id love to see a video and hear this old gal run with its 40th birthday day-view! :)

Hi Ron, I hope to do a video when she cranks up, am hoping since I will have bigger exhaust and headers plus h-pipe that she will sound real tame and as deep of tone you can get out of a small block, but will roar when you step on it!!!!!

Im sure it will buddy, I think you made a wise choice in the exhaust with this and im sure it will sound every bit as good as you want it to, Im working on another car but i do still plan a set of the Flow-Masters on my 73, i guess im not 18 years old again in other ways lol, because the cheery bombs on my car do not sound good like days long gone :) TTI and the size of pipes as you say, i do want to hear this run, Im looking forward to the video, i do more reading then posting anymore but i have been watching your progress, lots of ups and downs and now soon to be a reality, excited? lol yep, i know you are and there is a lot to be proud of with your car and it shows..
