My Coronet project

Joakim, I am speechless. The underside and trunk look amazing. I went back and looked at the first page of pics and then came back to look at it now and its beyond words how well you have done with this car much less a guy who did this on jackstands in his home garage!! You should be feeling really good right now.

He He Joakim ,
nice to see your engine runs, we built my new engine 408 :))))))))))

2014 we make the next trip to Västaras i hope we meet us my friend

You are welcome, just give me a call before you show up so I (read wifey) can make something to eat and drink this time.
Any build thread on the 408?

Back in the streets!

Finally ready for the first ride in over two years, power steering sounds a little wierd, no other major issues, still got some air trapped in the brakes.
For the first time ever, I managed to keep a New Year's promise, car is rolling again!

Happy holidays to all of you!

You bet! I just have to find a painter that are willing to take her on.
Took her for a ride in the neighborhood today, it is so fun, the sound is perfect, the converter is great, pulls good just above idle but when I step on it it flashes up to 2500 and she is a screamer! Even my father who is 81 y think it sounds nice, can't wait for testing her on the strip this spring!

The neckrest had seen better days

But with a chrome strip and some vinylpaint it looks better! Got it from Biltema in Sweden, 12 meters for $ 15!

brakebleeder.JPG
Made a brake bleeder from a 1/4" plexi plate and a tire valve, just connect it to the tire and pressurise the master cylinder for easy bleeding of the brakes.

The last part of the old paint is now history! Will put on some epoxi primer and see if some painter will give me a good price, otherwise I have to spend the winther in bondoland.

Waiting for a pair of exhaust tips.

The first quote from a painter has arrived, will have another paintguy look at the car in two days so I have something to compare.
God damn it is expensive to paint cars in Sweden, will probably cost me $2000-3000!

thats not a bad price I've seen them over here for alot higher than that the materials alone are high :reading:

I thought that was cheap to. $10 - $15K in Australia for a show quality paint job....

Yes but in this case I have already done most of the work myself, car is stripped, no old paint left, body is in primer. I will paint the roof myself because I want it black due to the vinyl top.
I am not looking for a show paint, I want to use the car and I have kids that are throwing biks all over the yard.
I will have the last paint guy look at it this afternoon, than I will decide if I will finish the job my self or not, I already got the paint for the car, got it from Germany, great prices.
The problem for me is lack of skill when it comes to paint and a full time job that steals all my time.

Update, had a paint guy (my neigbour, saved the best for last!) looking at the car yesterday, it was a little bit over my budget but he is willing to take the car as it is and make the final adjustments to match the rear corners to the QP, fixing all dents, painting the roof, hood scoops, some interior parts etc. I will also step up a bit in paint quality, this will be a top quality paint job. He is practise on a 63 vette right now and my car is the next in line. Hopfully I can leave the car at his place in two weeks, and I will drive it there!
He will drain my economy by $ 4.500 but the alternative is not so much better, with this the car will look great and I have a chance of getting the car ready this summer. Otherwise I will have to wait until summer 2014 and put in another 100 hours of my time for a saving of $ 2.000-2.500!
When I put it this way the choice seems easier to make.

Wow Swede, the car looks fantastic! I think you're making the right choice for the paint.
Congrats!

I agree, I wouldn't want to wait another full year to get the car painted either. If your neighbor can paint it sooner, that means that much sooner you can enjoy it.

The car looks great. Sounds like you found the right painter. Can't wait to see it in shiney new paint.

Can't wait to see it in paint Swede. I know its been a long trip for you.

Tell me about it, last time I had a drivable Mopar was in 1995...
In june this year it will be 3 year since I started this project, damn, time really fly away!

Just ran across this tread and read it completely today. I loved all 18 pages. I envy your skills and am glad to see to getting close to enjoying this car on the road.

I had always heard socialism was bad, but it seems you can get plenty of old Mopars, performance parts, scarce used parts and get seven weeks vacation a year to work on the project. You also have the Swedish Bikini Team. The only thing you seemed to state was too expensive was seat foam. I am now rethinking things and considering relocation to Sweden. Thinks look pretty good over there. I can bring some suitcases of seat foam with me.

Congratulations on getting this beast close to completion.
