I got round two of blocking completed. I filled the lows with thin layers of Dolphin Glaze. They look worse than they actually are. Round three will begin this weekend. Yes!

I pretty much confirmed my suspicions of what happened to my roof; The Charleston, judging from the chart below:

Hey, just look at all the pictures "back in the day". We all sat on them, stood on them, slept on them, and beat the living he77 out of them when driving. It's no wonder they have dents!

Nice job with all the sanding - it will pay off big time once the car is painted

Third round completed and I ran out of high build. I’ll need to order more tomorrow.

It sounds stupid but I always hate the idea of one more sand but I enjoy doing it! It's just so fulfilling each time you get it better. It's also nice to block out all thoughts of everyday life and just concentrate on getting it perfect I guess. Nice job, it's looking better and better!

It's funny that you should mention that. The first time I was hating life and thinking this sucks ***. While doing it the third time, I wasn't as miserable. I think it was because I was starting to see some progress and getting quicker at it.

Fourth round done. I sprayed three more coats of high build and sanded with 180. I never realized all of the different angles, curves, reverse curves, crowns, etc. that this car has. I think I’m done with spraying high build. There are a few spots of epoxy showing through but they are very minor, in my opinion. I did have to add a bit of dolphin glaze to a spot on top of the passenger’s side fender that was bothering me.

I had a little 2K high build left so i decided to spray a few areas that were bothering me a bit. After hitting those areas with three more coats, I sanded with 180 grit again. I then sanded everything with 320 grit.

I resprayed the bottom of the driver’s fender, right side of the trunk lid, passenger’s quarter above wheel opening and a small area on top the passenger’s fender:

I everything in 320 grit:

Next up will be 600 grit wet, then 2 coats of epoxy over exposed metal areas (mostly a few edges), then sealer coat then base & clear.

My car is finally in paint! I never realized how many curves, reverse curves, bulges, etc this car has. There’s not a flat area on it! I probably should have picked a flatter car for my first attempt at spraying, and using metallic bc to boot! I would say that it came out ok for a garage paint job. There’s some trash in it and a few people hairs and dog hairs - no idea!? Overall, not a bad attempt for a dummy like me. I ended up spraying 5 coats of Wanda BC and 6 coats of SPI Euro 2000 clear. The first two coats of clear went on pretty good but I got a run in the passenger’s quarter that freaked me out. I then backed off the gun from the panels a bit too much on the next coats and got a lot of peel on the vertical panels. Nothing several days of cut&buff can’t handle. I used the “Jim C Method” from the SPI Forum - 1000 on DA dry, 1500 DA Dry, 2500 DA Wet, 3D ACA compound with wool, 3D ACA step 2 compound with black pad. This system worked well for me but to say I was scared shitless to take a DA to my newly painted car is an understatement.
