my hemi build

i suspect i will.
i have one here already but i am not liking it. so i might just get another one for it.

steve

tank is welded. the decision has been made also. i am going to install the motor from the bottom as a engine/trans unit. i have not done one like that so it will be a first for me.

i am going to start the assembly of this hemi this week btw. it has taken me a while to get these cam bearings in it. my tool will not work for the #4 bearing. forcing me to take her to a local machine shop.

boohoo.....

interesting build. I gotta ask, we do lots of gen3 hemi's and I do cam design. Who spec'd that cam for you and why? Even an NA motor has 8 to 12 degrees of split from the intake to exhaust side. In most cases the cams are under .600 lift too. There aren't very many good springs past .600 and all of them are fairly expensive. .627 is really stretching it a bit. If your intention is to run boost, that is NOT the cam you want. Regardless of the LSA and ICl, it is not going to work well.

really cool project. it is the way we will all be doing things in a few years i guess!

interesting statement.
you have no idea who i am do you.

im me. lol

I figured out who you are. We know alot of the same people.

If you have been around the lx community a while you should know who I am. I do cam design, porting, and tuning for a large number of shops. Who's tuning the XFI for you? Back to my earlier comment, why did you choose that cam? I seriously don't get what you were trying to accomplish. Not trying to be a smart ***, trying to understand.

i know who ya are. i dont like to get into it with others about my cam choices. i think my track record speaks for itself. i have no idea on the xfi yet.
u have experience with them?

I did a twin turbo in a 69 dart not too long ago. It was a 426 gen3 car that he drove on the street.

As far as the cam, I hear what you are saying. There is more to it than just duration, lift, lsa. Still a curious choice unless you have something wildly different about your heads or intake.

trust me...

abd i have done a few twin setups myself. grinding a cam for one now btw.
but it only a small 392...lol

ti will eagerly await the results :)

should be awesome

Any updates? I have been buying parts like crazy for mine. I am getting close to being able to put the motor in for the first time

Thought id pop in and give an update
Cars been sktting for a little over a year i think
I ended up going back in for corrective surgury with the VA hospital for injuries received
During oif2
While there i was diagnosed with cancer sooooo after dealing with the crazy
Year i ended up with 4 surguries liver failure, kidney failure, asites
And a few other things

But its all good now so i was able to get the blown hemi installed in the chasis with some help
The 4 gear is now in the car also
Along with the tti headers
Installed the pedal assy and trans hump
Z bar too

Its taki.g shape and soon i hope to get this fast efi install done

Ill need to work on plumbing of an intercooler of some sort
Its gonna be tight.

Sorry no pics im pretty beat up doing what ive done

Cheers

Steve

thank you for your service sorry to hear about your health issues and glad to hear your up and running hope all goes well for you , when you feel like it post up some photos and a little text when you can ,take care my friend :headbang:

got the brakes installed along with the steering column. the fast xfi harness is routed and almost set up. the computers have the mount that i made out of .100 aluminum, and that will be mounted in the car real soon. the 4 gears shifter is installed and adjusted.
the hump has been seam sealed also.
radiator is in the car and i have to sort out the hoses now along with the air cleaner.

after the xfi is finished off, ill install the sumped fuel tank, and start routing the system into the engine compartment.
it will be run on e85 obviously.

once these things are done, i can start to work on the tune and then fire this thing off i hope.

Looks like a little progress. Good to see it. When you get all ready to go I may come down and see if you will let me play with your XFI setup a little bit. That is what will go in my car. I have done a couple XFI cars now and I am pretty impressed with the capability and flexibility for the XFI.

well,
im not sure who i am going to use for the tune yet. i have some experience with it, just not with the fast xvi yet.
i was leanig towards a friend of mine up at arrington.
but i also know about fastman efi also. he is the guy who tuned on 340 ricks car..

im open for all options at this point.

i have gotten the interior finished out. mounted the computers for good and run the xfi harness ext.
needed to install the starter for the final time and did that tonight. installed both headers for the final time also. every thing went smooth until i hooked up the collectors to the tti x pipe. what i managed to do was break my nose. some how i managed to slip and punched the car with my face? its a first for me and i have to laugh about it.....

soooo i closed shop and will play with it some tomorrow. ill make up a shroud for my fan i think sunday and started mapping out my fuel system. ill need to figure out how and how many fittings i will need.
