hey everyone, i just picked up a 1972 Dodge Charger with a 318,727 automatic both numbers matching,[FONT=Bitstream Vera Serif, Times New Roman, serif]Original color is GY9-Tawney Gold,Dover white interior, black carpeting, dash and white vinyl top. also comes with new tires, and battery, also has an original set of quarter panels and inner fenders taken from the same model car with front end damage, runs and drives but needs a hard metal brake line replaced. also has a W23 option whatever that is and a rear window defroster. i Paid $1500 for the car. I've had some people tell me this is a good deal and some its a bad deal, can i get your opinions? sorry if i got carried away, I'm just so excited!!! to have another molar after i had to sell my last one.

Another Molar? How many teeth do you have ?? :jerk:

Kidding. Unless that car is rusted badly, I think you got a good deal. The engine & trans are rarely important to me since they can be swapped out much easier than replacing rusty floor pans or other body parts that are hard to find. The more complete these cars are, the greater the deal. So many of our cars have parts that are only used in ONE model year, making them difficult to find. The front suspension of the 72 shares parts all the way back to 1962 so upgrading is easy.
That car can go any number of ways: Keep the 318, swap in a hot 360 or 383 or step up to a 440. The car can be made to handle quite well with the right selection of parts. Not sure how your selection of junkyards is out there in Idaho. Wildcat Auto Wrecking is in Sandy, Oregon. They specialize in classic Mopars.
Good luck and report back with more pictures and updates!

I think you got a very good deal. Those than tell you different don't know muscle cars. Welcome to the forum and good luck with whatever you decide to do with her. Remember - we always want pics of progress.....

thank you guys, it does need a few patches but nothing serious, i plan on doing it the same color but switching all the white to black. I'm going to leave the motor stock except for headers and I'm going to add efi and make it a really good fuel efficient daily driver. or i might cover it all in aluminum and rivets and make a wwII themed b27 bomber-charger, the world never knows!!

UM......why don't we call that 'Plan B'?
Good score. Find a 318 Magnum in a Dakota pickup, they have a pretty solid fuel injected engine.

Looks legit to me. Nice score. good luck.

Nice car, good deal! Is that a local car? For 1500 bucks I'd live in the dog house for that!

I have my 73 Plymouth that i probably will never sell, i love these old but new compared to like my 69 but these cars have a slick and cool body style my own opinion is i would love to find something like this!

I know there not as popular as maybe an old Charger or Road runner but they are sweet looking rides! :) Good deal and i truly hope you have a ball doing it!!! :blob1:
