My son got a new Ford Lightning.

Yep, the all electric Ford pickup with the bad reputation. The good part is it was given to him as a work vehicle. It looks nice. I was surprised it was available in work truck trim. No carpet, heavy duty seat covers. It's a crew cab short bed and I was surprised how roomy the back seats were. He doesn't need to pull trailers so the range should be sufficient for his job.

I would like to own a older Lightning like the one in the first F&F movie.

Nothing wrong with a free new vehicle as long as charging isn't a pain. And if you toss out ford's idea of an ICE engine, maybe it ain't that bad! The ford's rode well

If I had to guess the bed is 6' long. I looked it up, 67" so 5 1/2'. It would be enough to load dirt bikes with the tail gate down. He said accidentally chirped the tires.

We have them as work trucks. First thing to break was the charge port door. They no longer close and just make the dash alarm go off every time it moves. They all broke in the first 6 months.
Second thing was tires, we do do a lot of gravel road driving and the original tires only lasted about 2000 miles or so. The trucks are heavy and cold weather kills the mileage range. Hooking up a trailer with any weight, Forget it. You might be able to drive 50 miles on flat ground.

I worked for a company 7 months a while back - my van was a Japanese imported tiny sh*tbox with only an FM radio with the Japanese band available. The only station I could pick up was 24hr Talkback. I went to the boss one day and said I was feeling suicidal without having some decent tunes......still couldn't let me change the radio even if I paid for it. Payback came when he virtually begged me to stay after handing in my notice.
