NEW PERSONAL BEST ET

Congrats on a new best and what better place than that meet! Do you data log or read plugs? Mineshaft air can be alot of fun!!
I did NOT change my "out of the box" jetting on my Holley Sportsman 1050 Dominator. I runs so good I am not messing with the jetting.
Car runs consistent 10.60 in 2500' to 3000" adjusted altitude (which is typical in the summer time at my home track of Famoso CA which is at 678' real altitude).
It picks up a tenth in early March and November weather when the adj altitude is less than 1000'.
My research shows that if the car has the same jetting and runs quicker at lower adjusted altitude than it does at higher adjusted altitude then the jetting is a little "rich" at the higher altitude and then perfect at the lower adjusted altitude.
So...I leave the jetting the same when I race at the higher adjusted altitude ( I do not lean it out ) so it is a little "rich" at the higher adjusted altitude and that slows the car down from 10.50 to 10.60 which is right where I want it to run the 10.60 index in D/Gas.
Doesn't that make sense ?

Nice job Mike!
Hope to join you on the new personal best list in a month or so.
Fingers crossed!

Congrats, almost a .03 hundredths improvement

What fuel do you use? Have you tried different ones?
I use VP 110 Race Gas. $62.00 for 5 gallons.
I use 1 gallon on each run...that is driving from the pits up to the staging lane, from the staging lanes to the water box, water box, 1/4 mile run, then down the return road back to my pit...exactly one gallon.
I refill the fuel cell to exactly 5 gallons on each run so I have exactly the same weight for each run.
Any higher octane will not make it go any quicker...as I have been told and convinced of.

Yes, I jetted for best performance at "average" or "normal" conditions & only re-jetted for the great air if really needed.

Mike , I love your avatar. You guys are sooo far away from what I remember doing back in the day(altitude, air density, etc.) Thanks for the memories of days long gone. All the kids have Mustangs!!! BUT, I did take a shortcut through the allotment the other day and saw a genuine '67 GTX hemi inside a garage with a cover over it. I knew it was there but haven't stopped to talk to them.(Drooling)

Mike you are pretty close to my altitude 940. But with the humidity & heat of the summer it can get up to 4-5000 ft. in July & Aug here. I was curious if you ran pump gas. What is your compression?

Great time your turning ! What did your motor make on the dyno ?

602HP but that was BEFORE I switched from an 850 Demon to a 1050 Dominator and before I switched from an INDY dual plane intake to a Edelbrock single plane and before I switched from 1 7/8 Hookers to 2" Dougs w/ 3 1/2 collectors. And also the 602HP was on 91 pump gas at 32 timing. Now I run 110 VP race gas and 35 timing. With the 602hp original setup best ET was 10.98.....with all.the above changes it got down to 10.487....so I figure it has to be 675HP or so now

Sounds like an awesome combo !
