Got stuck yesterday, I tried to trouble shoot before I called AAA and found I had no spark at the coil..........So seeing that a coils not to expensive I went out this morning and bought a new one, well you guessed it still no spark.

Here's what I have MSD box, MSD blaster coil, stock dist (point less)

I'm going to try pulling the rev limiter chip & jumping it (just a thought)
Any other Ideas on how to test the Box (I'd rather not spend $180.00 to find out that's not the problem)

Thanks for all your idea's guys

Butch

How is it hooked up? The 6A in my Duster is (only) hooked to the coil and to the electronic distributor (and power of course)

RR,

My 6AL is hooked up the same as yours, I by passed the rev limiter and still no spark, I rechecked all conections and all looks good...........Just before the car shut off I had a slight miss, I hit the gas and it seemed to run smooth & then silience.............................

???????????

Give me your thoughts,

thanks Butch

Been awhile since going there but MSD had/has a web site for trouble shooting their stuff....

Thanks Cranky, I did a google & found the site, hopefully one of there fixes might help.

They tell you how to check if the box is good, also to check the dist pickup
I hope thats all it is..................

Boy I love this hobby...........always something

I'd guess it's the reluctor in the distributor. Hooked up like this, the distributor triggers everything. No trigger, on nuthin

The first thing to do is to check for voltage at the major connections. Are the heavy gauge wires on the MSD hooked directly to the battery and ground? Are the small gauge wires getting the voltage required? Ballast resistor OK? Are you getting voltage out of the primary ignition circuit (car wiring harness)? If so then swap out the MSD with a points setup or replace with a factory electronic box. It would not be unheard of if the MSD went bad.

Ballast resistor isn't used when hooked up this way. It's just there for "looks"

Thanks for all your help guys, I ran the MSD test and it came up bad ....So I ordered a new one from Summit, it came yesterday, swapped it for the old one and what do ya know ...................The new one works!!!!

Now whats next
