Now this is a sin

I suppose the same reason a person will keep a superbird until it rusts to the point of being just a vin tag but still won't sell. You just can't make sense out of some people.

Crazy. There are TWO Ferraris sitting near Hilton Head Island, S.C. Sometimes the covers blow off and sometimes the covers are back in place. The water table is high...the undersides gotta be rotted bad.

I've always liked these cars but found out a long time that: Rust was a serious issue, owing to the fact that De Tomaso used bare, untreated steel for the unibody, with multiple water traps, no less. Photographs exist of cars outside the factory in Modena, covered in rust, awaiting paint and assembly. Which explains why Panteras literally rust from the inside out. And it didn't take but a few seconds to find this info from https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a25923/shopping-with-colin-de-tomaso-pantera/
In the 70's there were several around my area and even saw a couple that were never garaged. The ones that were not garaged had rust on them even though the owners kept them clean and waxed. They remind me of how the early Mustangs (and many other brands) rusted pretty quickly.

A boyhood dream of mine was shattered a few years ago when I got a chance to be behind the wheel of one.....me too big, car very cramped. Obviously built for smaller individuals than me. :( My father had a similar experience with the E-Type Jaguar....same outcome.
