Does anyone know anything or have any idea what caused these cuts / areas on my 1972 440 K member? It looks like they were intentionally done. Up until now I was somewhat convinced that the car had never been apart but now I'm not sure Kmember.jpg

Hi!
I have sandblasted and powder coated 3 "B-body" K-members.
I have seen:
1. Terrible welding from factory
2. Grinding gouges
3. Excessive welding spatter

But never have I seen anything like that.
Sorry, I cant help

Yes, my K member looks like it came from the Welding Academy for the Blind.

Mine was pretty bad on my 73, but cleaned it up before I had it powder coated, lots of slag splattered on it.

Anyways, is your picture the bottom or the top? I cant tell, but if its the underside, maybe someone hit something with the car.
