Are the threads into a blind hole or through hole? You don't want the bolts to bottom out before the oil pump is properly "clamped up" to the block...it could leak.Installed without washers on the mounting screws. Because there weren’t any. And it didn’t occur to there that there should be.

Half this thread is asking how to know which is which.If you're using the Milodon kit, make sure it has the correct gasket between the pump and block. The Milodon kit I bought was packaged with a gasket for an external pickup pump. It wasn't cut out for the pickup tube/pump inlet port.

Doesn't clarify the issue but no matter I am done worrying about it. If you are curious as to why this is a problem scroll up for the numerous post where I say the same thing ten different way regarding the kit and the O rings involved. Not copping an attitude I am just exhausted with this and battling that old gasket took more energy than I had left and then another day's worth.

It happened a couple of times in 53 unbelievable pages about oil pump 'o' rings. I guess you really don't know how to reply to somebody who was trying to help you.
