I voted R5 but just to have something different, than everyone else might have,
BUT having never built any,
I'm not sure how much more it would be or how much hassle it would be to get stuff...

My second choice would probably be a tie between

the "all aluminum" RB wedge w-twin turbos or big Centrifugal Super Charger
& the
gen 2 "all aluminum" Hemi if you have the $$$/budget, super cool factor

the gen 3 Hemi's are cool too, but just not gen 2 cool,
just IMO, sorry not meant to offend anyone

not that I wouldn't love to have a forced induction
7+ ltr gen 3 "all aluminum" hemi either

any of the :headbang:"all aluminum combo" would be great

I agree. And on that note I have read that the Gen 3 Hemi isn't a true Hemi....So I did some more research and found that the cylinder heads are "oval" or "egg" shaped opposed to hemispherical... go figure...semantics or not?

Maybe the money would be better spent on something like a Schwartz chassis ? That would solve all the faults you listed.20k ready to go. Wish my budget would allow that.

no thanks, I have Ron Sutton he is a race car builder etc. design me a 1 piece chassis, which I will build all out of box tube with tig welded joins which I will remove all flooring and chassis rails of factory then install body and weld it to the chassis.

yeh an all aluminium hemi gen 2 might be a bit over costly for no more gain. I really like the R5 option, I have seen fully assembled ones going for 6k. and they put out a lot of power without boost, but the main reason for twin turbos is to have a **** ton of power but still be gentle enough to cruise around the street.

maybe a toss up between a gen 3, R5, or 440

i would put a hellcat hemi in mine if i could afford it :)

I'll offer a suggestion rather than an opinion. When you do come up with a combination that you think is going to fit your budget and needs....run it by the good folks here, and I'm sure there will be advice on how to tweak your selection to get the best bang for your buck. :icon_thumright:

thanks Kiwi, that's the problem, budget is not a problem at the moment, neds is what I am unsure of, I know I want to boost it, so I want to hear the opinions of everyone for what would be the ideal motor to use. that would give good power to weight, reliability, easy to maintain, cool factor etc. I do understand you can not get all these in one package. but what would be close

Yeah, I'd just buy that one if money is no concern! Plenty of torque, horsepower and it's got cool written all over it.

I already know Benno's response to this as there is a fair bit of negative press about Tom Nelson (not delivering paid for engines, re-selling other peoples builds etc...) and they all seem to originate in Aus.

good to know, learn something new everyday here

best power to weight and for the $ is ls2-ls3 gm engine. my buddy works at brenden gaughns ols nascar shop. i get nascar R5 engines complete from him cheap. i just bought 3 of them for 10k 750hp... im going to drop one in my other chargers

nothing a can of whoop *** won't fix:violent-smiley-100:

im going either gen 3 hemi not sure on twin turbo or procharged yet
or if i find a great deal on an R5 i might try one of them.
thanks all for some insight

just got to decide on gearbox. maybe a quaife 6 speed of a legend 6 speed

Put a 2JZ-GTE in it!

I own a gen3 Hemi, it's in my '03 Ram 2500HD, so I'm a little biased on that point, I like to thank Prius owners and other hybrid owners for saving gas so I have plenty for my truck, lol, BUT, if I had the chance to own a Hemi anything, it would have to be a '68- '71 Street Hemi, or a '68 Hurst Hemi Dart/'Cuda.

I have an all aluminum 540 GII twin turbo hemi going together if you check my superbird thread. I can tell you that an aluminum genII TT hemi will eat your entire budget if you build it with good parts.
Block 5K
Crank 2K
Rods 1.5K
Pistons/rings 1.5K
Cam/lifters/pushrods 1.5K
Heads 4K
Rockers 5K
Turbos 5K
Intercoolers 2K
Injection 5K
and this is just the big ticket items. Pay for maching, labor, fabrication of headers, tuning, etc. If I couldn't do it all myself, I couldn't afford to do it.

My vote would be a GenIII based TT hemi using a 5.7 or 6.2 core. Way cheaper and still stupid power. Turbocharging is the only way to have your cake and eat it too. If you've never ridden in an F2 procharged car, do it before you buy. It's so loud it'll drive you insane. The power is so instant, it's borderline dangerous for a guy who isn't used to it.

Whatever you choose, have fun with it!!

If I were to have $$$ to spend, I'd LOVE to run a 6.4 HEMI and a new A8 trans. These require some serious wiring issues to run, but I LOVE that trans in our 2015 Challenger. The trans downshifts feel less disruptive because the gear ratios are so close together. Ever notice how dramatic a 3-2 or a 3-1 downshift is with a 727? This can be disruptive in a turn, even a gentle curve in a road. I almost spun my 70 Charger when I leaned on the throttle in a curve. It dropped to 1st at 35 mph and kicked the *** out as I was trying to pass someone.
The A8 will skip gears when downshifting if throttle pressure is great enough, I.E. 8 to 5 or 6 to 4 to 3. It just makes the car rocket on without lurching, etc.

Go hang out on HAMB.
Mopars run MOPAR engines. LS swaps are for other cars with inferior engines.

haha.

thanks guys. anyone know of the top of their head the weight difference between a gen 2 and a gen 3, even if the gen 2 is aluminium?

my 440 current build I should be able to get around 18-25k here for it, it has some of the best parts money can buy and a lot of people love them here.

in about a year I will make a final decision but still tossing up a gen 3 vs a R5, the r5 would be a monster.

oh yeh
there is a guy on the pro touring forum with a 70 cuda that has one of these motors and then twin turbos as well, i cant imagine how scary it would be to drive that.
