performer rpm intake install on rb 440 valley pan gasket?

Just my $0.02…just did this on my stock 383 to fix an oil leak.

Was confused by all the gaskets and o-rings, so talked to a local Mopar engine builder who said use Permatex “The Right Stuff” around ports on heads, no gasket then set the valley pan. Then no gasket between intake manifold and valley pan. Crush areas on valley pan create the seal. Worked perfectly.

Have to say, the engine designers did a great job by bolting the valley pan in place along the front and rear block so it doesn’t move when setting the intake manifold. Easy job.

I’ve always had good luck with just the pan. I can see how if things had been milled a lot maybe use gaskets. I have had the intake milled as well to get good alignment. I would think with two gaskets per side, it would be tough to have the port openings line up perfectly.
