Ah the **** we did to these cars in the 70's...
I’m not talking about being abusive to the car, just getting it out and enjoying it, just a whip around the block, or to the store. So many people just care about numbers now, money numbers, production, mile numbers. Who cares, drive them! You don’t have to wait for a car show, you don’t have to make sure the temperature, humidity, stars align perfect, just drive the thing!Might be a foreign concept to ya, but it is possible to both be a good steward of a pedigree car and beat snot
out of it once in a while....
I believe that's what I said, yeah...I’m not talking about being abusive to the car, just getting it out and enjoying it, just a whip around the block, or to the store. That’s why I enjoy this thread, seeing these cars being cars
I partially misread what you said, and also expanded on what you said, sorry for the confusionI believe that's what I said, yeah...
It will be driven down the track!!I might have mentioned it earlier, if I am redundant, I apologize.
Most of the cars we have had have been run down the quarter.
A stick 4Runner
Wife drove her 85 Supra stick.
Auto 4Runner.
68 300.
3 67 auto Chargers
1 67 440 stick Charger, might be more.
I maintain that the new owners who have bought their builder cars. Should be acknowledged for their determination and efforts to build it.
They are the ones that should be praised and helped.
Some have unlimited funds and can buy almost anything they desire.
I say where is the personal satisfaction when someone says I dropped it off picked it up done. Now I spend 80-90,000.00 on a truck and trailer so I can go to a car meet and say (Look at me).
All the people that put their effort into cars because they love them should be recognized for their effort.
How many times do you see pictures of of people crowding around cars over 100,000.00 and completely ignoring the person with the under construction 318 whatever.
Time and time again I have seen the complete arrogant attitude.
Example: Years ago guy came to a Mopar show with a beat up 67 383 Sport Fury, which he had just got running. A guy with lots of money that had his car redone by a shop. Asked the new guy why he would bring something like that to the show. New guy left for about 3 years.
For whatever it’s worth those are my feelings. Take it or leave it.
If get our car done the goal is use it.
.
what a sore looser! My 68 Charger that got rear ened by a 340 Duster that I just finished laying a whooping on. It was the morning of Thanksgiving day 1984. I was out driving around getting supplies, when a white 340 Duster pulled up next to me and wanted to race, the Charger put him away, but when I stopped at the next red light I saw the Duster locking up the brakes and sliding behind me. I saw an opening in traffic, so I floored the Charger, but he hit me anyway his front bumper went under my rear valance and he ripped out the drivers side rear shackle! With no replacement parts available, the Charger was parted out.
