Picked up the latest copy of Old Cars Report Price Guide today and noticed that 68 & 69 Road Runner and GTX prices have gone up by $10,000 for a #1 car. Apparently the market will come back for our cars. Oddly though the Coronet and Charger prices have remained where they have been for the past 2 years. At least there is some upward movement for Plymouth.

I wish they'd go down a little bit, or at least hit a level and stay there for good.

Gee...this mean the value of my DUSTER just went up? Maybe it also means my Hemi car is a STEAL at it's current price.

wonder if I should raise it:icon_scratch:

I dont know,i've been watching and they still seem to be dropping in price to me.

If the economy ever gets out of the rut it's in I'm sure the prices will rebound quickly. This is the time to buy if you are able to.

That's just a guide, especially for lower than #1.
Barret Jackson is a joke unless you are in the 100 point market, or have more money than anything else.

I use ebay as a guide as they are SELLING prices.

You can also see wha they are NOT selling for via those that don't meet the reserve or have no offers on a BIN with make an offer.

The Mecum auction prices are pretty close to "real world" prices.

Those prices are derived from auction reports and reporting dealers. This is where you find many of the #1 cars. The buyers there pay more for the priviledge to have many cars to choose from at one time and place and don't have time to cruise the net, spend time playing picture tag, and flying around the country wasting time looking at cars that may be misrepresented by sellers. The extra money they might pay at an auction is worth it to them.

I think we have hit the bottom in the old car market pricing and this is evidenced by the MANY cars on Ebay that go unsold with the unrealistic high bids by the people that THINK they can steal a car. All sellers have a bottom line and most simply aren't going to sell for those rediculous prices offered. People can dream that prices will go lower but I don't see it happening. The prices are already lower for done cars than you could ever THINK of building a like model for.

I hope they do go up - and soon. I'd like to move my 62' one day soon and it would be nice to get my invested money out of it at least.

Just got back from a real auction in ZepherHills FL. Not the biggest city.....

1967 Satellite claimed to be 383 car. No emblems. May have had wheel area quarter patches (lip didn't look right to me) really nice yellow paint, black int.

Bid up to 20K, no sale. WHAATT???

72 Scamp, nice green paint, very nice green int. 318 car with 360, a/c. Body work starting to come through in quarters if you looked hard.

Bid up to 9K, no sale. Are you kidding??

However, If you want a C3 Corvette- 79 4 speed, red with tan int, good but maybe not great paint, old school cragars, and rare manual windows...asking 6K, no takers.

At a local shop (the one where my Charger is), was a real 67 R/T. Lazer straight. No rust that I could find, fabulous prep and paint. Black int, no a/c. Beautiful Lime green paint.

12K sold (on ebay). If it was red or almost any correct for 67 color, I would have paid 12 or more easy for that one.

Another thing about "Old cars price Guide" is that it used to include adjustments for engine size, but doesn't any more. Even though it wasn't perfect, it was better than nothing, as now they think a 66 Coronet 500 with a 318 is worth more than my 440 model with a 383. That is just not correct.

Additionally, trying to use sales publications like Hemmings and Auto Trader doesn't work either, as they are ASKING prices, and you never know what the selling price is, which is the real value.

Even using ebay, you have to track more than one and factor additional judjment. There's a 67 GTX w a/c on right now that looks fairly unmolested. It's up around 7K. I'd say that would be a good one to watch.

There's also a 67 R/T on that has obviously had tons of body work, as the seam between the quarter and roof. and the trim is no longer there. It's missing parts ans needs other work. I think it is currently around $3500.

There was a good deal a while back...A guy in Ohio had a 67 500 383 car- loaded, but needed sme work. 4500, didn't sell. He also had a 65 about the same.

Not too long ago a red 67 X with p/w went for 7K. I say good buy on that,

Your experiance at Zepher Hills is all too indicative of current times. This is no time to be selling - anything.. It's a good time to buy if you can afford to, but even so I think conservative caution is in order. I personally think it will take a few years for prices to recover to anything near what they were two or three years ago.

Got some dough, It is for sure a buyers market. The prices you ask and what people offer you are most of the time alot of dollars away. I have found nice documented original hemi cars as low as 40's asking price. That is a steal at that price and then people lowball them to see if they can see the reaction so they have an idea what they might take. They need to go to where they were a couple of years ago to get the market inline.

I,ve been seeing 67 gtx,s on ebay go for 12,500 already done...Makes me wish i would of waited when i bought mine..Hopefully the market will rebound a little...'
Petty Blue 67 GTX

I sold my 70 Road Runner for 21K last Oct and took alittle loss. And I bought a 71 Road Runner last Dec for 17K and feel I got a good deal. Now sold my 68 GTS and am on the look out for another B Body. The market is slowly coming back, but I think project cars, clones, and slant 6 and 318 cars are hurting the most.
