Project long haul...

Merry Christmas Ron! Look forward to watching your project move forward in 2015 and hopefully a short winter so you can put Cristy's rubber to the road sooner than later!

We had the most mild Christmas I've ever experienced today and a thunderstorm last night so roads were clear... I stared outside debating for close to an hour whether to pull my car out and go for a drive today just to say I went for a ride on Christmas Day!! Unfortunately the clouds did start to darken and I didn't go but I'm hoping it's a good sign we'll be behind the wheel soon!

Sounds pretty cool with the weather buddy! Sounds about what we had yesterday... Back to cold today but no snow and Merry CHRISTMAS to you and everyone to! I do have a picture i have to put up for Will, I promised a long time ago now and have been waiting until i needed it but lol, maybe i wont this year, ok, but it sounded good.. Don't let this small John Deere sounding garden tractor fool ya, she has and will push a lot of snow, but reasonable amounts lol, we used to pull cars in my old garage with this in the winter, its a strong little booger... And i do need to finish a couple things and ill post some progress pics up, i am plugging away at the 69, its fun and i enjoy what time i get on it...

Well, I guess its been awhile since ive been on here, lots of "life" getting in between but i can add some things i have done, not to much but waiting on parts and the endless money we always need i have strayed and started some things, and ive been spraying the torsion bar ends and the front end parts that will have to come off with blaster...

I started to drill out the spot welds along the front, i hope the glare i seem to have is-int as bad on you guys equipment, But i have got them started and some work on the d-side firewall/cowl area, Im repairing anything i can, i don't think i want to replace the firewall and certainly not pay what AMD wants for one! I said at the first im slow and i guess i didn't lie to anyone, Im replacing some of the firewall metal under the clutch and brake pedal while i was waiting for some other parts and ect, I will be back to the rear of the car as soon as what im doing now is done, This was just to keep going and enjoy the car while waiting for stuff, looking forward to getting trunk pans and then starting on the q_skins!

I think you can see how bad the floor is but i have a new one if i ever get to that point, i sectioned it off from the start starting in the rear, next would be the floor, rockers ect and then the front and i didn't want to start anything until one section was done BUT, I kind of get to the point i want to work on it and if i cant work on one part, i started to work on other stuff, I call it my Mopar fix with the wife, if my legs say ok, im going to shoot for the moon lol, I can keep that little shop comfortable so i love working in the nest, I said it before but seeing my 73 out there in this crap is the only thing i hate with the place tied up but i guess for now, that's the way it is, anyway! Some more of my saving original metal, repairing what i can do, some looks bad but the pointed end of a body hammer says im getting ahead of myself so its one piece at a time with my project... With the firewall/cowl im using metal from the quarter panel, if i need anything heavier i have it but its the same so its working out good... Some of the patches some may choose to make look better but i do whats needed and leave it, I have more pictures after i sand blasted around completely under the pedals inside and ill put them in as well as the ground down welds, i just have no desire to go out in 5 degree weather to get my camera... It's just on the outside of THE side here that needs repaired, enough work yes but im glad with it, heating makes the 1/8 in lip needed at the very side of the flat lip you can see here, i thought i had those pictures, i admit im not to good at this and sometimes i get busy and forget to take in-between pics, like i should, that is what helped me so many times with what you all put in here! If you look close enough, you'll see some BS work on the frame rail, No way out of replacing that, but in the order i get to it, but it does need replaced!

I am not in a hurry with this bird, it was dragged behind a barn and given up on, one piece at a time and it will see the road again, that i can promise but admittingly it is in need of a lot of work, but i enjoy it and when its done i will enjoy it again in a slightly different way! The main thing is that inside the rails, rockers and outside as well will be coated and it will be around another lifetime... I also repaired the front of the rocker and its covered inside with the Eastwood converter, plug welded in and then around it...

I know i have those pictures of inside where i blasted up and under the clutch and brakes ( MY A-C is slow, i blast all areas but only what im workin on at the time) and the welds i ground down and they must be still on the camera, This is what its like to not be working sometimes a week or more at a time, ill get caught up eventually and once i finish with the work here i started ill be in the back working, and im looking forward to it, im ordering the "steel" color paint for my leaf springs and once i get the differential painted and the springs, ill be welding in the trunk pans and then im headed for the quarter skins, this is where i started and im all pumped up about having the back end of this old bird done, and although its so far from a survivor bird, lol, its all going to have new metal thru-out and im having and learning a lot of fun!

I can imagine a lot would say this should have been left behind that barn but that is what makes this even more fun i told my wife, I really am bringing one back from the dead, ive collected so many parts thanks to Roger, Will, Mark and Brad and anyone i missed please forgive me, My point is my shop is full of parts, My radio room here has parts sitting here, reminds me of my 73 build but i didn't need EVERYTHING! :) Until next time guys, i do have more but i am not going back out in the cold, in fact i just went out and thru some wood in my stove and in a little bit ill be filling it as im the one who gets our Gabby girl off to school in the AM, and i need to try some sleep NOW its my turn to see what at least a few of you guys have been doing!!

Cool beans Ron. At least you get a taste of it even if it is too long in between times. As you said before, a half hour today is a half hour you don't have to do later! You are definitely gaining though. It's those little spots like those that really eat up the time. Big parts make for big visible differences, but little parts make for important differences. Keep at 'er Bud!

X3 . . . glad to see you getting some "quality" build time in this cooler weather Ron . . .

What's that white stuff on the ground ? ? ( smile )

Looking good Ron. Take your time and enjoy the process. Seeing you getting going almost makes me think about looking for another project.

Keep up the good work Ron - It will be spring time before we know it, not quite yet though, hehe.

Like 68chicken said "any progress is good progress", that's how most of our cars are done (little by little). Good to see your still plugging away at it.

I sometimes feel like the guy doing this project., We must keep our "Eyes on the Prize".

Lookin good Ron! Love the progress pics! I have finishedwhat I'm doing to the 73 charger I have and have it for sale now, I finally got chance to pick at the 69. started drilling out the welds on the right door hinge post. Can't wait for the next update Ron! If we keep at it one small patch at a time before you know it all of these great projects will be restored cars with us behind the wheel!

Doing good Ron, and looking good too! Keep after it pal, it will one day be all done. i'm right there with you. I do a little at a time.

Nice work, and I like the "work on it one step at a time and enjoy it" vibe. There will always be challenges with these projects, but you have the right attitude to get it done over time - could be fast, could be slow, but who cares?

I am enjoying your thread and the repair pictures! Keep them coming!

God bless all you guys, ill be honest i love all cars but Mopars have always been at the top of the list with me, My wife, my kids have heard it forever, my wife loved them at one time lol, i think ive drained her of that somehow, she says all i talk about is mine, ALL the ones you guys have and the ones i want lol, im nuts, cant help it but it keeps my heart beating good! Thanks much to everyone of ya and i hope the ones who sandbag here will get off there duff, get started and join the fun, The extra mile puts more on the road and smiles to faces, especially the nuts like me... and you do NOT have to have the coolest shop and the best tools, just want to do them will build you one nice car and if you let yourself,,, You'll have a ball doing them!!! Sincerely ;) More to come, and when the cold gets to bad, a 1/25 scale model does wonders for the mind...
