Looks like you're rolling right along Ron! Good idea to just take the work in smaller doses. A lot better then burning yourself out, while everything else is not getting done in life around you. The biggest thing needed to complete restorations on these old Mopars, is not having all the fancy tools, fancy shop and cutting edge equipment........It's having the heart & passion to do it. I'm sure you'll keep pegging away, a bit at a time and in the end have the car you always wanted. Take Care and Happy Moparing!
BTW...As far as your Blair bits, you can sharpen the rotobroach bits. It takes a good set of eyes and a small precision file, but can be done. I believe a replacement 3pc. 3/8" set from Blair is about $30. If you use their rotobroach lube and/or any type of oil (be it penetrating, machining or plain old motor oil/trans fluid..ect...ect), you will dramatically extend the life of the bits and have faster cutting power.
Thanks much Will! Im sure at my speed being burnt out wouldn't happen soon.. The hardest part for me is the times when its physically not going to happen getting out there and my head says "lets go bro!" lol, kind of a strange way to put it i reckon but real enough, I agree with you 100 % about the heart and passion, the excitement of it all, im in no way disappointed in my little shop and my lets say cheaper equipment, I love what im doing and especially what im working on, ive had some very cool Chevy's, and as much as i wouldn't mind having another of the same and the 63 Impala SS is the one that comes to mind a lot when thinking about them, It would not be as fun as a Mopar, i always liked them more then any other car i ever had, the 68,69, and 70 RR's were and are at the top of my list... If there is anyway i can physically do another car when this one is done it will be a 70 RR or a 71-74 Charger...
Your right about life's going on's and its been a hoot, Today my oldest daughters husband totaled there Durango, she has my wife's car now to go and pick him up, praise the Lord he's ok, Durango another story and it takes an hour to get where he is so, i just pray they get back in one piece and Sue's car lol, My car is froze solid from the frezzin rain this mornin so she took the wifes and she needs that in the AM.. reminds me of a song, at least the title of it.. "Oh what a night" this morning helping Gabby girl down the frozen steps i didn't know about until the bus came i was thinking going to be one of those days lol, im used to them but seems we could spread them out just a might! rofl... All in all, it's not been a bad day, i got some garage work done and i found out the inside of the d-side rocker is good as can be, something i was worried about and grateful as could be when i peeled back the floor enough to see down thru.. Cant beat that!! ill find out more when i can get the entire floor out but someone really put some serious patches on the floor with screws and i don't even know what else that has to come out but drilling the spot welds out down thru the drivers side and seeing good that side of the rocker, man i was a happy camper and i will get some pictures of it all soon i hope... Thank you sir..
monroegtx You couldn't be more right on the journey and enjoyment im getting with this car, im buttoned in for the winter and my only regret is my 73 sitting outside for the second winter, maybe i will be able to get a car port next year if things work out right, i cant have this, my old friend outdoors on a night like this and this is a fairly good one, wind is blowing thru the trees out there and to me that's a nice sound with the fire going and my two ladys sound asleep now lol... Thank you!!
69 GTX, I took your advice today with drilling slower, and i do have some cutting oil i keep around for the drill press, it very well may help! thank you much!
