Liking these new sort of 2 years old now I guess. but they look cool with that coating on them and they are saying 6% cooler? Going to try a 780 vac sec see how it is.
No, but I just bought a new Quick fuel SS-735 cfm vac sec carb for my hot street 451 build after reading many positive comments about Quick Fuel. Have you run a Quick Fuel carb before?
Yes I have a q-850 mech secondaries dbl pumpr now, it runs great for the street just really running on 2 bbls most of the time not really using it for what it's worth in my opinion Per a suggestion from MEEP-MEEP aka "The Professor" I am going to give a smaller vacuum secondary unit a try. I spend 99.99999% of the time just cruising so a big *** less efficient carb just doesn't make sense the old saying in the carb world bigger is not always better. Originally I thought I would have better efficiency when the engine was first built but not the case. so dropping down in cfm rating is the right thing to do in my case. Hoping for even better throttle response we shall see! lol
I really like the quick fuel product line and have pretty much had trouble free and easy adjustment experience with them, their tech support guy can be a real *** though I called for a simple question and he treated me like I was 10 and a complete newb to carbs! short of telling him to f off i took it so I could get some freebies haha
Any way if this works I'll either sell the 850 or put in the 1:1 link on the secondary's and use it for track time full out full throttle.
Just wanted to see who has one of the black diamond ones they have been out for a year or so now figured someone has run one?
I'm hearing good things about your ride almost done?
Well first run seems great, after getting the float adjustment done and the idle air mix to max vac all seems great. Took her out for a freeway run and man you can feel the secondary's kick open. good throttle response, seems to have good steady flow through the ranges and sounds good. Good all around town idle is steady.
I would say this SS-780 VS is a good buy. Need to play with the electric choke settings still.
