first let me say I'm not crazy ..others have heard this.... just put after market radio in my car played fine for a week or so........ NOW when I drive all the speakers distort ..not static like from plug wires or alternator whine but like there cutting in and out real quick.. and ..this happens only when I accelerate ...take my foot of gas let the car roll it stops doing it sounds fine ... sit in driveway car off radio is fine ..start car let it run radio fine ...rev the engine radio fine ...drive away it sucks .....reached under dash moved /pulled on wires for radio everything good ..ground wire secure .......:mad:WTF

If speakers made today come in contact with metal and grounds out, they will give you problems, found this out the hard way.. When you accelerate it could be happening, id check that first, it can ruin the speakers or radio to im told.. they have to be grounded with the wires as you said were tight.. One thing simple you can check..

rear speakers have plastic rims around them so they are not making contact with metal ... the connections are taped and clear of metal ... I've ran new wires when I installed this setup .... the fronts are laying on the floor now and I still have the problem ???? :angryfire:

Speakers an ground: Unless some idiot manufactured your speakers, the voice coil connections are both insulated. "Grounding" the frame of the speaker should not matter one way or the other

I don't have an answer for you. "Loose connection" is as good as any

What does this sound like? Erratic? Timed with engine? popping? whine? It might be that the engine is torqueing over on it's mounts and changing "the ground" situation.

Is this on AM, FM, DVD, what?

its not a whine or pop ..it doesn't increase with rpm's ..it does this every time..it does it in all functions cd..tuner..usb ..if I pop the car in neutral as I'm rolling down the road it stops.. rev the engine its still fine ..pop it back in gear accelerate even slightly it breaks up again ..I've had alternator noise.. plug wire noise ..this is completely different ..tomorrow I'll dig into the wiring again and check the motor mount ...crazy ..thanks guys

It could depend on the radio or if you have an amp ect. Ive put a few systems in cars and they are always finicky, especialy in older cars that dont have voltage regulators, capacitors, ecms, and smaller alts. Test the volts coming off the alt, if the volt goes too high, it can cause the sound, and it wont be in tune to the engine.

also If its a more modern radio, and your setting it up for yourself and not to resell, I would just put it on its own lines, just run a toggle switch from the battery and put a volt regulator before the main power for the radio system, and keep all amps as far away from the battery as possible and you should be golden.

It sounds like a connection issue. When you accelerate, forces are pushing everything in the car rearward, so I'm guessing you have a connection that if you move it rearwards will cause the problem.

My problem stemmed from the kick panel speakers, not much room and i got in a hurry and just set it in place, well, the speaker kept touching metal (not much room in there) and did some screwy things until i tighten down the panel in its proper place, the instructions on my radio and speakers warn of grounding thru speakers there selves with possible damage of messing the radio up.. Fluke? wonder why the warning about grounding with wires only.. Maybe there not built all the same, i have no idea but did have a problem, if acceleration is the time it starts this, sounds to me like something touching that maybe shouldn't be.. just my 2 cents, explanation, not arguing the point. :)

is this unit a SECRET AUDIO unit by chance? ( the usb made me think it is )

no mounted in dash ... this morning I went under the dash and pulled and pushed on every wire under there both hot wires /4 speakers / and ground ..changed where the hot wire is picking up its power .. nothing.. power braked it to check motor mounts and if radio would break up.. it didn't.. mounts are fine...I'm going on vacation tomorrow will be back in two weeks ..thanks for the reply/ideas ..oh yeah today I drove it in reverse for about 50 yards at speed the radio didn't break up :eek:fftheair: ...got to love it

Have fun, maybe someone will figure this out by the time you get back, seems funny not in reverse! im still thinking something is shorting or grounding when accelerating forward..
