hello Folks,

Anyone running a 'new style' two wire electronic Dizzy.
Just bought one to run on our engine 'run-in stand'.

No wiring diagram, just red to coil and black to ground the seller said.
Does this sound OK?

Best wishes from Poly John.

What brand is it. Msd and Mancini sell them but most will have 4 wires. Two to the coil, One ground and One for the tachometer.

The old electronic distributor (often called a dizzy, for those souls that do not know how to spell correctly) conundrum......how to connect two wires....which go to what terminal or source of power or ground or black or red???..... how about a magneto....which require no wire connections...self contained.....WICO was a name brand that was used on early 392 Hemi dragster engines...why not give it a try.....you'll be "shocked" as to well it works......

But with a magneto, NO external wires or COIL is required or needed....the magneto is self contained...no external power is required .....the dwell and high voltage windings are all done internally.......no muss no fuss....be the first to show your buddies how simple and ignition system can be.....BTW......your drawing shows a GM/Chevy distributor.....how about a MOPAR distributor......

Same drawing different distributor. Other than the tach input.

If I got one of those and wasn’t sure how to wire it I would bench test with a spare coil, some wire and a battery. Also a way to know it at least fires before starting the installation.

The brand for that Distributor is Speedmaster. They do not offer instructions on their site. Its a loop of here is where to find it and then nothing. You could email them the information below. And ask them WTF is up with it.

Speedmaster® PCE376.1091.01

Mopar Chrysler BB 440 7000

Bob,
I can hear your wife calling you......
She called and said: keep providing a critique aimed at those "self proclaimed experts" that have no clue as to how an ignition system is supposed to operate....both fundamentally and actually....using correct names for these components.......

Post #13. No, not grd via the chassis. Th dizzy in post #10 uses the Bosch 4 pin module [ or copy ]. The grd return is via the dist body. Same deal as GM HEI. So make sure the dist clamp makes good contact with the dizzy. I actually grind some 'teeth' into the mounting feet of the clamp to ensure a good connection.

That’s what I’m saying! Ground via body/chassis! What it was wrong on what I said?.

Red, 12 volts
Black, to coil (-)
Ground via chassis/body…

Language issue?
