Well, I'm back "vacation over". It was a great time, lots of swimming, boogey boarding, playing in the sand, fishing, eating and relaxing "oh yeah" and some good beverages, most important the kids had a blast. We got back at 7:00pm and I didn't waste much time getting to the garage to start the mufflers so here's what I got done and since I used a different camera I found some pics of the bumper mods I had forgot about. For those of you that don't know what the plans are for the exhaust, they will be side exit with the exhaust exiting out the side of the muffler on the same end as the inlet (not done yet). Also is a pic of my kids having a blast on the beach and the only fish I caught "damn did that thing fight". Those SOB's told me it was fresh water and "no sharks" I don't know about you but that looks like a salt water fish and I was in an inflatable boat "what the hell".

Damn that's awesome what you're doing with making mufflers from scratch! I wouldn't even know where to start something like that lol the flush bumper will look awesome too :icon_thumleft: you going body color with the bumper or rechroming it?

Glad to hear the vacation was a success too. one of these days here shortly I'm gonna have to find a nice sandy beach on the river here, sounds like a blast :eek:ccasion14:

Thanks, I'm not doing anything special just copying the Flowmaster 40 and making it do a 180 for the side exit "I have to admit it is fun". When I was younger my bodies and I would take our chairs, pools and booze out to the river start a fire and catfish all night (lots of crazy memories). As far as the bumpers go "I'm not sure" I was going to weld grind sand, weld grind sand and get them chromed but after seeing Year Ones Charger with them painted I'm really liking it now.

Had an hour to play today, I got the second one started and now I'm ready to start sealing them up. Did I mention I really don't like stainless, cuts, drills and bends like crap "at least it welds easy". I might add another baffle in the big radius (I think they might be a bit loud). I should be ready to try them next weekend if all goes well. DSCN8115.jpg

You'll have to show us a picture when you get 1 done before you finish the 2nd one.

Quite a talent you have - not many people can say they have made their own mufflers.

Probably because most people are smart enough to just but them.

Thanks guys, I'm following all of you guy's builds and am pretty impressed with your work so the compliments mean allot. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Boy, I don't know what to do "three days in a row in the garage". The wife took the kids to the movies tonight which only means one thing "Charger time". Got some more done on the mufflers, added a little more baffling, welded the inlets in and got them all fitted up. All the internals were welded in the first channel but to weld them in to the other once assembled took a different approach so I dapped some gasket sealer where I wanted it welded, put them together and walla then drilled it for plug welds. Now you can see what they will look like minus the tips which I'm hoping to get done this weekend. Also found the grommets on Ebay that I wanted for mounting it all firmly. Getting a little better with the TIG but still not real happy with my weld, I guess this is good practice since it's under the car.DSCN8116.jpgDSCN8117.jpgDSCN8122.jpgDSCN8123.jpgDSCN8124.jpgDSCN8125.jpg

Now that's just bada$$ :icon_thumleft: really awesome work, looking forward to hearing how they sound!
Thanks, I sure hope they sound good. I've made a good effort to keep all passage ways at more then the volume of the 3" pipes so I think they'll flow plenty well, the question is will they silence it.

Same here! Might have to Patent yourself some mufflers....Go in the auto store someday and pick myself up a pair of 747 Turbo's.
HaHa, "Not so sure about that" they'll be pretty application specific when they're done plus they are a copy off of Flowmaster. Thanks

Thanks, Why can't I find any pics of your car? Looks pretty cool, I had a 73 Sattelite at one time with the same hood.

Thanks Bud, very nice Ron. I really like the interior's of those cars much better than what came in mine. Is that the exhaust pipe in front of your tire?

I have to agree with everyone else here, amazing work you are doing. I really want to know what these mufflers sound like when you're done. I can't help but think it's going to be loud. there's no tailpipe right they exit out the side of the muffler? This is another build I can't wait to see done.

Pretty much, the mufflers will sit right under the back seat as usual but will have a 1" X10" rectangular pipe going under the subframe connectors then opening up a bit 1 1/2" X 10" for a better appearance.
