Restomod charger pics

What a pain in the ***. But don't feel bad, me and my buddy mike call it the rule of hot rodding, "if you need it you usually don't have it" lol. But maybe the previous owner switched ps pumps? Mine came with a federal

This what I have, the fitting is out of the steering box. Thanks, your link wouldn't work, I'll try searching it. DSCN7928.jpg

I switched the pumps, well not really there wasn't one. The funny thing is that fits perfect, it's the steering box that doesn't which I believe is original. Oh well "minor problem".

Wow, great to find this place. A lot of good stuff. Thanks again, one more problem down.

Lack of progress this past weekend but for a good reason "wiener roast with the kids and lots of smores". Anyways, what I did do was start the mufflers but ran out of stainless and finished up the front of the motor. I hated not using the electric fan shroud that I had bought so I cut the opening bigger had my dad roll me up an 18" dia peace of aluminum and weld it in "there, now it's not wasted". I rechecked everything and ended up shimming the alternator a little, only thing to finish up on the accessories is the power steering hose which is supposed to be here tomorrow. Please never mind the ridiculous looking water hose neck, it came with the pump and I'm getting rid of it as soon as I find a better looking one. To bad I'll be heading out for vacation next weak, "almost there". Oh well, I can't wait for a weak off work, waking up whenever I want, eating when I want and playing with the kids all weak. We're going to the 4X4 beach (Outer Banks) with my cousin and his family (his wife is an awesome cook):headbang: I'm a little nervous, we're taking an inflatable boat (one of the nice ones) with a 15 hp Mercury to do some fishing in the Sound "I am scared shitless of sharks". It's an awesome place if you don't like crowds, you have to drive for miles up the beach (no roads) to get to the house.

Very cool stuff, keep up the great work & go have fun with the family, they are only young once, I miss my kids being at home, the youngest girl is 24 y/o, the twins girls are 27 y/o now, the oldest James is 29 y/o & in the Navy... they all have graduated now & lives of their own now too... I can't wait to have grandbabies.... PS, Stay away from Sharks or the man in the gray suit as they are known...LOL... as Sherriff Brody from Jaws said, "We need a bigger boat"

You ain't kidding about them growing up to fast, my girl is turning 7 and the boy 5. She's already doing gymnastics, tumbling, dance and now T Ball, my boy on the other hand just likes to play in the mud and raise hell "ornery little guy". If it where up to me we'd still be having more "love kids" but the wife has endometriosis or however it's spelled so this is it. The thought of them moving out doesn't sit well with me, maybe by then it will change. We might take the labtop on vacation, if so I'll post some pics, maybe some fish or bikini's haha.

Well I got the other power steering hose (67 Charger) and they where right, has the right fittings on both ends. Unfortunetly the bends make for a sloppy looking installation so I ordered the correct fitting that cdr recommended so I can use the correct hose. By the time I get back from vacation I should have it and the rest of the stainless to finish the mufflers, I really need to find a digital video recorder so I can post the first fire with the exhaust installed so you can witness the failure or success. I'll be chomping at the bit to get home and get back to work.

have a great vacation, that charger will be there waitin on ya. lol

Have a great vacation 747! Hope you catch that infamous "big one" lol.. the kids do grow up faster then we realize, We have a 7 year old and shes already thinking about what car she wants, has to be a ragtop though lol.

Glad to see you got that taken care of, and definitely an easy mistake to make, the federal and saginaw would both fit the ps pump bracket identically so it could go either way.

Gonna be awesome to see that first fireup with exhaust, hopefully I won't be too far behind ya haha have a great vacation man! :icon_thumleft:

That's awesome, do you have a convertible for her? It's not looking like we're going to catch much, so far just a big Ray and a lot of water (leaky boat).

Not really a mistake, I had the Saginaw laying around and have always had really good luck with them so I figured I'd just use it. I knew there might be an issue with the hose but figured it wouldn't be to much of an issue to adapt but thanks to cdr it was no issue. I should be ready for a trial run pretty shortly provided there is no more surprises and everything goes smooth but I really need to find some decent wheels and tires just so I can drive it (it will be a while before I can afford the ones I want).

Ah I see, well that's awesome you could make it work. And as for wheels, the coys I got were pretty cheap for how good they look. Customer service from them is absolutely horrible though lol. Maybe a set of american racing torq thrusts?

I've never liked the Torque Thrust on muscle cars just Hot Rods "that is until I saw your car", you must have gotten the combo just right cause it looks sharp on yours. I've decided on the American Racing Cobra wheels "I think" I also like the Salt Flats but don't think they would look right on my car and everything else I like is EXPENSIVE 2,500-3,000. The other thing I like about the Cobra wheels is they are made to order meaning correct Dia, width, and offset (don't have to settle for what they offer or use spacers). I will be copying your combo, looks damn good on your car.

Oh yeah that would be great then, those will look awesome on your car. I'd recommend the same nitto 555 tires I got too, for the price you cant beat em. And thanks, it was a pain in the a$$ trying to figure out what size of everything to get. I got lucky everything on paper translated to how it actually looks on the car lol

What size are your tires? "I haven't priced tires yet". How wide are your rears? I think I can get the rims in 9.5" and 11", 11"s would measure 12" outside to outside so I don't think they'll work so I plan to get 9.5"s which will be 10.5" and put 12" wide tires on them. Not sure on the front width yet, I want something in the middle (not wide nor narrow).

Yep sounds pretty close to my setup, I have 18x9.5 rears and 17x8 fronts. I've seen the same setup with 17x6 up front and it looks too skinny to me. :shruggy: but if I remember right my rear tires are 275/40r18 and fronts are 255/45r17. Usually anything under a 40 series sidewall starts to look too low profile, I was nervous the 40's wouldn't be enough meat on the wheels
