Hi All,

I think I know the answer to this but worth an ask any way:

I'm about to put new bearings through a highway diff - open, 2.76 - to give me some economical range until I win lottery and get overdrive. But I have the ring (no pinion) for 2.9's sitting on the shelf.

Can I use the ring from the 2.9's with the pinion form the 2.76 to bump up the ration?

Cheers!

no, gears are made as a pair and you can't mate different pinions with different ring gears.

Figured as much, but was wondering if they might have been close enough to work. Thanks for a quick response.
