Roadbird's 1970 Roadrunner restoration.

Its good to see you getting things in order and ready for the build John.. Good luck with it all, looking forward to your updates.

RB looks like you been busy again, looks good keep us updated ,I got a stiff neck looking at your car **** though :headbang:

Yeah I was hoping it will give me that opportunity to rotate counterclockwise the photos option before posting but it didn't. Oh well it is what it is.

What I did today. Dropped the rearend the K member and Torsion bars. Here are some pics.

- - - Updated - - -

I also counted the splines on the axles and they are 30 splines at 29 1/4" long each axle. The torsions are 40" long (standard for B body) and 7/8" diameter. I wish I had the center section for the differential though. I also noticed that the K member was light and the rearend too. I can lift the front and the rear of my Roadrunner and was wondering if this one was built for stock car racing back in the day. I also saw today a 1964 all aluminum bodied A998 in white that came with a 426 Hemi. I thought those didn't come out until 1965? Pre-65 were Max wedges weren't they? Anyways the guys at that restoration shop said it was one of 50 built by ma mopar back in the day for racing. I also saw a Red 1971 Hemi Cuda that was at carlisle. Guys said that car was worth $600,000.00 if I was interested in buying it...LOL. I told him I can't afford it right now and probably ever would unless I win the lottery or something...LOL.

How can I tell if my 383 is a "B" or "RB" engine? My block ID stamp pad reads: F 383 , 5 25, HP. Any help would be appreciated, thanks Roadbird.

Thanks Ron. I guess mine is a "B" block engine ID stamp is on the right near the base of the distributor. I still need to measure the internal dimensions and the forged crank and journals. Who knows maybe I might go ahead and lighten my crank too at the machine shop. Still got to build up some funds for the engine build. It's going to be a surprise BTW.

I have a 400 hear thats going to be a surprise, Only cause it will surprise me if i ever come up with the funding money! lol.. Its not for my 73, its for another car but so far down the line its almost laughable.. one day i hope.. But good luck, Hope you get your funding and it all turns out good, the 69 was always my favorite and the 70 my wife's, either or i could live with so believe me when i say, im looking forward and do now to your updates, and a surprise in the making stirs curiosity, this place is like having a manual sitting in wait just in case any info on doing/fixing/changing different things is here! Good luck.

The cowl is out.

Still in excellent condition; like new still yet and the photos don't do it any justice. Looking to sell this out of my new home here in Washington state. PM me if interested and ask me any questions about it.

Well that inner cowl is a perfect example of why a car would be leaking water under the dash...lol Good luck with the sale of your hot tub. Wife would sure love that.

LOL, is she interested? Normally these things go for $10,000 to $12,000. Hoping I can get something for it at the listed price so I can get me a large air compressor for my dual blasting machine from Eastwood, a rotisserie and right side full quarters and some engine work at the machine shop here. Here are some pics of work I did today.

You've sure dug yourself into your car. Hope you get your spa sold so you can get the other things you want.

Hope this isn't a tear it all apart, and never get it back together again! Remember, I know all about that, as I too was active duty in the military, you just can't do it all while on active duty yourself, impossible, unless you have about 10 grand per month extra to blow.

LOL, need. And I did, but no worries. It's what has to happen.

No not completely apart, but still a complete rotisserie restoration.

If anybody here is interested or know someone who is interested in my Jacuzzi or Hot tub for sale let them know as I am willing to lower my asking price and get this Marquis Spa sold so I can get much needed tools and 70RR parts to begin. Thanks FBBO.

Just sat down and read your entire thread. I'm glad you got inside a nice garage instead of the tent. One step at a time replacing metal and eventually it will come together. The car will look great with the color you are thinking of.
