soo.. so in doing my car which was a michigan car i have dealt with a lot of rust and spent way too much money on evaporust that i finally went online and looked and found this guys video and made his mix and it worked better than evaporust and lasts longer so far. Sadly i'm down to only a few parts to put back on but my rear bumper brackets were pure scaley rust and nasty.. I wire wheeled them to knock off some scale and put them in the tub for 2 days (didn't check after 1. cause busy) and can't believe how well this worked and i mixed up 5 gallons for $5.. and have plenty of the chemicals left over for another 10-15 gallons if needed...
The citric acid (10lb bag) and i used arm in hammer washing soda which was like $5 for 2lb i just grabbed off amazon $25 total for bout 15 gallons of evaporust..
The before doesn't look THAT bad cause i wire wheeled them and they went black.. but they were still pretty much still all rust.. i left the inside of one untouched to see how it would clean up also...
Should took a before pic before wire wheeling
EDIT: adding links to the exact stuff i bought, for ease..
Citric Acid
Sodium Carbonate
But.. the stuff works great.. the couple of rust spots are really heavy scale... i just knocked it off real quick and threw them back in the tub this morning..
