Rusty's Roadrunner

No not T7 that shade is actually darker than mine. It was an original T7 interior but the exterior is/was originally T5. When I first started the restoration I was going to put the interior back to brown but I just don't think I would have been happy. So I changed everything to black to make it easy. For the dash, doors, column and interior metal panels I sprayed them with a Nissan Galaxy Black, which is the same color as my truck.

The plan is to have all the interior done this weekend and the painter is going to start on the exterior of the car next week which I hope means he has already started assembling it. He still is trying to figure out how he is going to paint some items that were not assembled when another shop painted the engine bay like the battery tray, hood hinges, and bolts for the fender once those are put back on. So hopefully you'll all be seeing more pics and a lot of progress. I've pretty much restored everything else and it is just sitting in my garage waiting for a body.

Doors and trunk completed

Here's a pic of my doors and trunk lid. The trunk is also painted but in my excitement I forgot to snap a picture.

She's got paint!!!

Finally :) Now only the fenders, hood, rear light housings, marker bezels, and header panel to paint. The PPG Omni is really thin, took 4 coats. I would have went with a higher quality paint line but the paint shop didn't have the formulations for anything else. I think it looks outstanding though especially in the sunlight. For those wondering this is factory formulation T5, no addition of anything else like more flake.

gad I'd give personal body parts for my car to look that good!

Beautiful Man, that really pops in the light! Thats going to be one nice ride!! Outstanding is a good word...

I like the t5

I do like the T5 color it does not look that good on the chip chart. On the car it looks great...I do not recall ever seeing a T5 69 RR..That makes it even better...I told you in PM I am a turn key guy and most of my stuff I am doing is simple stuff I am repalcing, lower dash pad, visors, refurbushed metal dash above streering wheel, arm rest mounts, sails the easy stuff..What your doing is way past my me....Thanks Rick

Believe me I didn't tackle all this on my own. Some of the component work I've farmed out like the window washer motor, engine, trans, and rear pumpkin. Other than that I did most everything else in my garage like the steering column, dash, and all the interior/exterior trim.

Thanks a lot for the comments on the paint. To be honest I had no intentions to paint the car back to the T5 when I first got it. Until I saw what the paint looked like when it hasn't been fading for 40 plus years. Plus around here not only are Roadrunners, well really Mopars in general, few and far between but there is not one other bronze of any shade around. We only have the red, blue, and orange ones it seems.

Long process to finally get the whole car painted but it is finally done. The picture doesn't look all that great since my paint guy only has an old flip phone that he took the pic with. More to come...

Damn that looks nice!!! In my home town while I was groing up there were a couple Plymouth B-bodies in this color. The color impressed me then & Your's does now! I really hope you put some flattener on your hood stripes to make it like factory.

Excellent work! love your car!

looks pretty good to me! I'll be glad when mine is done.

eagleone1983 all I can say is :headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::headbang::grin:

Sorry no flattener on the stripes. Actually the stripes aren't even plain black although you can't tell from the picture. They are the same black my truck is, it's called Galaxy Black and is a Nissan Titan color. I've also painted the interior metal this color. I was going to go flat black but then I thought...why not, she's mine. :)
