Amazing thing about life, things can always change... that's a real feel good part of your story, one door closes & another door opens so to speak... hopefully they all get great homes

You're kiddin, right? They GOT a good home. lol

Oh the kitten count is up to three now.

Well, I hope this will take a little of the sting out of the pain you guys are feeling.
While I'm not a Cat person and having a lot of animals I understand how they become part of your family. I do know the pain when one is lost.

Good luck!

I have weimaraners and my daughters want cats. They do not understand that a 100 pound hunting dog will not be friendly to a cute little fuzzy kitten.

I don't know about that... my neighbor has cats & my 80lb "old" hunting dog gets along with all of them... always has & even my other dogs over the years... IMHFO it really depends on you've raised the dogs...

Yup, we always had hunting dogs and cats together growing up and they got along great. Most hunting dogs are good natured and gentle with smaller animals unless they have specifically been trained to hunt those creatures or if those other animals are not part of the household. If the dog sees you give loving attention to the cats they will at first be curious and then follow suit.

I would love to get them a kitten. My female weim brings me dead rabbits all the time and my male grabs my daughters stuff animals and shakes them violently as if to break their necks. Too many rabbits and groundhogs probably meet that same fate and I assume a kitten would be fair game to them. I take them through the woods off leash and on one trip heard them growling which is not normal. I came into an opening and they were playing tug of war with a groundhog until it split in half. The male lost interest, but my female ran home with her prize. Sorry to hijack this thread and hope the kittens do not meet the same fate as the other cat.

We're up to four. Dammit. I thought a cats first litter was supposed to be small.

How many cats to plan on having ??...LOL.... up to at-least 4 more now, hopefully your not like one of those "old people" that collects cats are you ??

Rusty;that's way cool. Most first litters will be 3,4 and occasionally 5 lil' furballs. I've also had dogs that got along great with cats, including some that were inseparable from each other. Great to know that they have a good home and loving owners. Heck;I'd rather spend time with my animals than 75% of the population I've encountered.

4 is small ..LOL

Glad things are looking better for you

Well that's the official count. We have two solid white, one black and white and one orange. Rickie, the cat we lost today was solid black......so we have decided to name the black and white cat Rickie in his memory. We've agreed there'll have to be a Rickie in every pack of cats from here on out.
