Hi,
I recently sanblasted my .318 engine and transmission from my Roadrunner 1973. As you can see hedder is placed forward and this is to cover holes from the engine and avoid sand into the block.
Anyway an old cloth was placed in there (each hole) and I cut cardboard with the exact shape of those holes and I stick them with silicon.
So, engine block is 3 times protected against sand 1. cloth, 2. cardboard and 3. hedder.
Carburetor was also covered with a plastic bag and then an old cloth.
At this time the whole engine was painted black with gray primer but later covers and accessories will be painted with orange mopar.
The primer and paint I used is rusteoleum high temp. 3 cans of each
Regards
