I agree with Blumofo, buy a different hood so that you will always have the original!

I CONCUR with this answer and others that suggest you buy bolt on fiberglass and store the original

your car looks great as is but you might consider 2 hoods also Zman

OK, it's been a long time comin, but have the '62 Plymouth done, with the max wedge scoop on it. If you want to see what it looks like , just go to You Tube.com, or google, and type in this exact heading----62 Plymouth max-wedge, (dont forget the dash between words) and there's a video of us loading the car up to go to the Nats race track. Thanks guys for all the input, and I got hundreds of compliments on the max wedge scoop. Thanks again.......

Congrats on the gorgeous car Cuda!! Love that you went with the scoop! Car sounds awesome to! :headbang:
For everyone else heres the link to your video.

I think the motor will run better with the scoop. Looks good either way. If you really wanted a sleeper you should have started with this. [email protected]

now thats a sleeper!coulda won some big money with that ride back in the day.
Wow, that's quite a feat (9.88) with what appears to be 6" wide rims and tires, or did you have something else on it at the time? But I really wasn't looking for a "sleeper" look, just wondered what everyone else thought about putting the scoop on a car that the factory didn't. But glad I did now, and I do have a factory hood hanging in garage, in case I ever change my mind, but don't think that will happen.

I think the 62's look great with the Max Wedge or the 64-65 Hemi scoop on them. And most brand Xer's are so used to seeing the Max Wedge and Hemi scoops on 63's to 65 Mopars that they dont even know the factory never offered the scoop on the 62's. And most 63's sold did not come with the scoop as just about all of the 63's that had the scoop back then and now were added on by the owners. Mine was added on by me also as in 1963 Plymouth built 1196 Max Wedge cars and only 40 of them had the aluminum front end and it was only the aluminum front end cars that got the scoop from the factory. But they looked so good with the scoop that most owners were adding the scoop unless they raced an NHRA class that would not let them add the scoop. Same for the Dodges as they built just under 1000 Maxies in 1963 and only 39 were the aluminum front end cars with the scoop. I know on my 63 Sport Fury at first I did not want to add the scoop as I wanted to stay more with the sleeper look but after I got a scoop given to me and I sat it on the hood I knew the scoop was going on and would never be coming off ! They were 7" rims. It did go 9.96 with those. We have since put 10" rims (same old 275 M/T) on it as we're approaching 140mph. There's way more left in it. The stock block and stock cast crank is why we haven't turned it up.

Actually the scoop was given to me and I bought the hood used for $100. dollars. So I dont know what brand either is. Like I said I paid $100. for the hood and then payed the painter and body man $250 to prep and paint them. So I have a total of $350. in all of it. I like them as its holding up great. Ron

Hey Ron, That looks like a Sled City Scoop. Lucky you , and everyone likes it too!

It could be as like I said it was given to me used. Its a very nice scoop as the glass is thick for a scoop as its kinda heavy and thick and it does not not flex at all. The hood flexes more then the scoop. Ron
