SGTPauls 68 Charger RT project

In the gray zone…

Thanks for the comments all! Over the last week I put another coat of DP90 on the whole car + a 3[SUP]rd[/SUP]coat on the underbody since that will be the final paint. It was nice and warm on Sunday so I was ableto get the K36 on the car to bond to the DP90 within the 10 day window. Thanks God I was able to do that since I had no ambition to scuff up the whole car… again :eusa_hand: . It was also a lot easier to paint gray on black as opposed to black on black :icon_sunny:. Now I need to get caught up around the house so I’ll take a little break from the R/T after a clean up. Probably start working on the suspension parts – blasting, painting, and refitting bushings and the like since it will be too cold to do any more on the body until spring. A few pics below.

No doubt! Great work.... One full scale 3D AMD Charger puzzle....This thread is a great real time review of AMD's Charger line of sheetmetal. Also, a flagship for Vise-Grip

X2 very nice work too. I wish I could do that type of work. The talents on this forum are amazing!

Back form the dead….

I’ve been able to poke my head above water at work enough to start working on my R/T again!!! Nothing major, but I’m at least moving my thread forward from page 5. I’ve taken the front and rear suspension apart for inspection, cleaning, and painting. My plan is to get the suspension all cleaned up, replace all the parts that need replacing, painted, and get it installed on the car. This was to be my winter work by the day job took all my time up. Don’t get my wrong busy is good, but it would have been nice to make some progress. I’ll be doing a little sanding and painting on the body soon – just enough to get the front suspension on so the real painter can paint without taking the suspension off the car. In my inspection of the front suspension I found both strut rods bent, and the wrong torsion bars on the car (dam past accident). Replacements found thanks to Cranky and another friend. Also started a tread on my leaf springs – join in on lending some advice if you please. http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?52128-Leaf-Spring

Just a pic of torn down parts for now.

A little forward progress…

Been sloooooowly working on the R/T due to busy work schedule. So far I’ve been able to clean, blast, and now paint all my front suspension parts. I’ve also picked up a new set of leaf springs since both pair I have are very soft and have a lot of give in them. Progress pic from the weekend below.

Slow is better than NO. Glad to see some progress. I'm in the middle of changing jobs right now and I'm going to have to bring mine home. Thanks to you it will be rolling by the end of the week. Keep it up!

Another thread I need to bookmark. You really have done some amazing work on your Charger. I like the fact that you post your pitfalls as well as your accomplishments. I'll be following your lead and getting a frame jig for my Coronet just to make sure it turns out right. Keep up the good work and buy a few more Vise Grips, I don't thing you have enough. LOL

I agree......All the little things add up and will definitely save you a lot of time down the road. Even though you're busy as all get out at work, still good to hear you're gainfully employed. That pic a couple posts up (post 224#) is pretty neat looking. Would make a good poster pic for a resto book. Keep up the good work SGT.

Thanks! Yes car is in Detroit and it was originally either Light or Bright Blue Poly based on my removing of the undercoating in various areas. I need to get some samples to compare to be sure which on it is. I’ll be going back to the original color and no vinyl roof. Silver on black for the interior. .
here are some color chips

back in da game

Hey Gang! Been a while since I’ve posted anything but I have been slowly working on my Charger due to work schedule. Got my axel painted, installed, and all torqued down!! Got a quart of bright blue poly and put it in spray cans. Need to paint my front frame rails and shock tower so I can install my K-frame and front suspension. Picked up all new Moog front suspension stuff. Nice stuff!! :icon_cherry: Look forward to getting this stuff installed soon! That’s all for now folks…..

Your car is looking great - cant wait to see a little color on her. It sure has come along way from the hunk of metal you started with.
