Side pipes on 70 charger

I think they look great on a car with a shorter wheelbase. When the pipes don't fill the gap between the two wheel wells I don't like them.

My van has 70s paneling on the walls roof and doors in the back. It has black diamond tuck over head in the front seat area with spotlights. Vans are making a comeback.

I heard diamond tuck was making a comeback too. So, I have that going for me...which is nice.

Well, that took two minutes. I just typed in 1968 Charger with side pipes. I was going to try 1969 and 1970 but I think this will do. I think a side exhaust, like a Cuda AAR or the type that exits the quarter panel is cool.

It just doesn't look right on B-Bodies 'at all',
doesn't fit right, they need to fill it up between
the front wheel opening & the rear wheel openings, at a min
(even then I wouldn't suggest it on a B-body)
even the guys RR w/custom made black coated ones,
I will say it does blend in better
but; I wouldn't suggest it or do it on any of mine
or to 'any real friends' cars
not even back in 1972, or whenever, IMO they just look out of place/wrong

a retro van, an AC Cobra or a Vette yeah, Cheata, maybe a few others too
'shorter wheelbase cars' like an early Gen 2 Camaro, seen a few customs that it 'looked OK'
BUT;
MoPar/Cars of any, 50's-current body styles or even older 60-70s A,B,C or E
or winged cars "not so much"

& I'm 100% a day 2/resto-mod type guy now...

Side pipes were a thing back in the early days. Running boards as well.

I always thought that they were cool looking back in the day. I couldn't put them on any of my cars though. They do look awesome on a 70's Van's though.

For a look from the past, they are OK.

A long time ago while bench racing with my Dad, he talked about a side exhaust using what he called Zoomie Pipes and described them similar to Top Fuel exhaust. He never did it and I had forgotten about it until I ran across this car on YouTube. Now we are talking the 70's. Jacked up with big meats on the back, the exit pipes help fill the area in front of the wheels. I like it.



They also were used on Max's Interceptor.

I kind of like the look of the pipes on the 3rd Gen. Not a big fan on the 2nd Gen. Funny though I kind of like them on the 68-69 Coronets and GTXs/RR. Looks ok on the 68-69 Barracudas in my opinion. YMMV

I am one of those guys that likes some of the old and some of the new.
I won't be putting EFI or 22" wheels on my cars and won't jack up the back and put N-50-15s on either.
I do like slotted mags though. I like Sidepipes. It isn't something that I would do for my own cars but I like seeing them on others.
