I'm changing my cap and rotor and the stamped #1 on the cap seems to be one hole off of where the #1 plug wire is on the old cap. Should I pay any attention to the # stamped on the new cap or just put the wires where they were on the old one? That's what my inner voice is telling me to do. 1970 440 with a 73 Chrysler electronic ignition.

Got it. Has 2 #1's depending on rotation.

I would go with where the wires are on the old one. If you go with it being a hole off, you'll have to rotate the dizzy to realign the whole schbang. However one word of advice- make sure the notch on the new cap is lined up with the tab on the dizzy! Ask me how I know....

Nice! Glad to hear you got it figured out.

Unless it has 6 lugs on it or it should be a smooth transition.... but not all caps and rotors are interchangeable I like the brass Taylor ones.
