Hi, anyone made there own tail pipes? I am going to make my own soon, can anyone give me the best degree bends to use.

I have a 67 Coronet but I guess all the 67 - 70 B bodies will be pretty much similar. I'm using 2.5 inch tube and a pair of Dynomax super turbo mufflers with offset in and centre out.

Thank you

Leigh

If you are trying to replicate original if you don't have access to a tubing bender I wouldn't even go there.

If you wanna go extreme, take a look at my profile / photogallery. I made them from Stainless sheet metal, two halves welded together.

I would look into some pre made elbow and chrome tips... worst case is you 're do it as hundred times till you're happy...

you'll need a chop saw , a mig welder and tall jackstands at a minimum , I use my lift for the car and a transjack to hold stuff like the mufflers in place while i build it. doing anything on your back sucks , I build custom setups using aluminized steel exhaust tubing. I use 90 degree manadrel bent pieces and cut them for the bends i need and build it in place.
Even prebent "kits" need some reworking

Leigh, I purchased B body tail pipes only from Flow Master. There mandrel bent @ 2-1/2 inches.

I'm not sure I seen the photo your talking about but what I did see what probably the coolest tail pipe tip in the world. I thought about doing that myself. Glad you beat me to it.

I also make my own exhaust from U bends.
Beer, sawzall and a mig welder.....

I bought these and sent them back. They will not fit with the 66/67 fuel tank without modification. Though they will probably be a good starting point. Will just have to cut them before the fuel tank, fit those sections and then fit and weld up the rest....might want to make sure you don't have a fuel leak before you start tacking down there!
