Taking Up New Residence

The car looks awesome and it's nice to see it out and about. Now that your driving it some, how's the power with the inline 4bbl's. I know the torque is gonna be high.

It drives and responds nice. I originally had the 600 Eddies hooked up progressive. The front cylinders were running just too lean. I hooked them up one to one and it's so much better. The one time I could accurately check the mileage I was getting 12 mpg.

I once had 6- 2bbl Strombergs on an old Fenton intake, back when I wore a bowtie. A 12 pack really, with 2 sets of progressive linkages tied together. It would go from lean to FLOOD!!! Lol

12mpg...Well, when you have a Big team of horses, they need to be fed!

Changed the break in oil today. Almost 500 miles. The oil just started to change color so I decided to do it now.

Using the Brad Penn 30w break in oil I only had 20lbs pressure at idle at operating temp. 45lbs to 65lbs cruzing down the road. Much better now useing the Brad Penn 20w 50w. The valves really quieted down too.

I also cut the Wix filter apart for an inspection. Looked a lot better than the first break in filter did.

So... when are you going to post the burnout videos?? :)

Lol, you know it's really hard to find a safe place to do that now days. Too much traffic, cops on the prowl, too many houses. I'll find the right road one day. I might have to take a drive back to Md to my ole stomping grounds, out in the country!

Replying to my own post...
After being contacted by a fellow member about the pressure being this high, I did a little research on here about "too much oil pressure" and I came to the conclusion that maybe volume is better than pressure. So I drained the 20w50w and replaced with 10w30w. One concern was cold starting @ 80psi or more. I have heard of the dizzy shaft breaking under these conditions.

I did watch my rocker oiling with both weight oils and I do have better flow with the 10w30w. I could use a lighter pressure relief valve spring to get the high end pressure down a bit. I haven't hit the 5k rpm yet...

That looks more gooder. With the engine up to temp, 30psi at idle, and looks like 25psi in gear.
The pressure relief spring is probably fine with the lighter oil.
What did the guage read, when you first fired it up cold?

It will run at 80lbs at first. I'll just keep my foot out of it.

hey ki was just reviewing your build and want to thank you on all your time and effort to show how its one. you have a great ride

Thanks Bearman! Hoping to help others with their rides. Most people don't get to work on these cars everyday anymore.

And here I was under the mistaken impression you were done(except little ‘nitpickn things, lol.

Are we ever done with them? I actually took a drive this afternoon, stopped by a friends house, went for another drive and came back home in the dark. I like driving that car after dark!

Is your Bee still at the painter?

Lol ur right and YES. Met up with a school classmate the other day & he said “only since last Nov.?” He knows the guy too & said he’s one of the best around the area. Told better-half to quit asking when it’ll be done!

I'm starting to believe that there was no bow type headliner for th 62's and only these cardboard type.
Here is a very original dart 330 ,paul from NZ

My 62 Dart 2dr sedan, as base as they come, has roof bows and used a cloth headliner. The cardboard was probably on the better appointed models. Mark

Yes, the hardboard was used on the upper end Darts...440 and Polara 500s.
