I've been wanting to color the faded dash pad above the glove box. The glove box door needs painted also having a couple of nicks that rusted and a couple of small dings. And the speaker grill could use some sprucing up. Just one of those things that you never seem to get to. Well here we go.
Before picture...
First thing is to remove two small screws holding the glove box to the door. Then you have to move the box inward, turn it sideways and remove to one side of the opening.
Now remove the four screws under the dash that holds the door hinge to the dash frame.
I removed the speaker grill after this but didn't take any pictures of the procedure. You'll see how it's done later on during assembly.
Here's where it helps to be a contortionist. Seven studs with stamped nuts hold the pad to the dash. A open end wrench is needed for the ones across the top. A socket and extension can be used for the rest.
After all the nuts are removed pull out at the bottom of the pad first to remove.
