No not a Disney flick. I brought my Satellite home from where it is stored so I could do some work on it yesterday and kept it in my driveway over night. It needs a paint job so what happened to it is not that big a deal though I ask myself, "why me?". I was sitting in front of my car having a beer this afternoon and I noticed scratches in the hood that weren't there before. I observe that there are many of them and that they consist of four parallel lines together. Then, while looking at it at the right angle, I see the footprints. Some animal was walking and sliding on my car during the night.

A few shots from a super soaker water pistol will do the trick...Check under the car too.....

Something just like that happened when I bought my 94 Ram 2500 Cummins. Special ordered with dark blue pearl. Within the first week, the neighbors cat had jumped on the hood a few times and slid backwards off leaving a bunch of scratches to the white primer. Brand new and my first new vehicle.

Pellet gun shot to the guts will take care of that problem permanently.

Shoot the owner who lets the cats out of the house! I have three indoor cats, and don't let them outside unless I'm with them.

Any cat that scratches my car is getting shot. If they are just running around I'll live trap them and bring them in or humanely euthanize. But I am a firm believer that pets need to be on a leash, in a fence, or in a house...beyond that they are nothing but Ferrell animals.

For a while around here we had a cat problem, the city came and trapped them after I called. That is my primary suggestion.

Like it or not, it's not about what you believe. It's about what the law says and most states don't have leash laws for cats.

I am not aware of a law that saws I can't trap a cat and have it euthanized. If it's not wearing tags its a stray. I'm not going to argue this further but its just my stance. I don't like cats and I make sure my pets stay in my property. My door is not their marking post so ill protect it.

I'm not arguing. I'm trying to let you know to be careful. Most states allow deadly force when an animal is a threat. If you get in that situation, and shoot a cat as you said, you might get in trouble with the law. As far as trapping, I don't think there are any laws against that at all. But I can tell you that the law would not support you euthanizing it. You'd need to take it to animal control and let them make that call.

Actually around here I think euthanizing it is ok. (wife works for a local vet). Though I know if I trap them the local animal control will euthanize them, they don't attempt to re-rehabilitate strays.

Thank you for the warning. I know shooting them is illegal....but if it scratches my car....:violent-smiley-097:

How bout not shoot any animal or anybody?

OK, I exaggerated. Sorry. My point is that a cat allowed to be out loose doesn't know where the property lines are - the cat is just being a cat, and shouldn't be injured or killed because of its owner's laziness/stupidity. Where I live there are ordinances on pets - they must be fenced, tied up, or on a leash when outside. I am already talking to my local animal control about the cats who cruise my back yard and hide waiting to ambush the wild birds at my bird feeders. I would talk to the owners directly but don't know whose cats these are. The only thing I can do is what I'm about to do - call animal control and get them to come out and trap them.

you guys completely missed the joking here...shooting them was kinda the joke...

Trapping is the correct course here.
