The Roach

Looking good so far man! Keep up the progress and great work as always Mark!

Mounted the clutch, bellhousing and starter. There is a boss on the left side of the block on the oil pan rail that needed some massaging with a grinder.

I've always said that there isn't a part on my car that I didn't have to modify somehow. It's nice to know that the modern stuff is not immune.

I was going to mount the transmission & hydraulic throwout bearing, but I need an additional 3/8" spacer on top of the two 1/4" factory supplied spacers for it to work properly. On order now.

Is that normal to use that many spacers.Dont know much about setup, but seems like a lot

I guess it is. The "hanger pin" has room for quite a few more. When installed, the throwout bearing should be compressed at least 1/2". As it sits, it would only be compressed about 1/4".

Yes. It is normal. It takes what it takes to give proper preload. You need some space because the clutch fingers 'grow' with rpm and if the bearing bottoms out, the fingers will actually hit it and since centrifugal force is pushing against it, the clutch will actually start to release.

Hey old man, wouldn't it have been easier on those knees in a few years if you went with an automatic. Remember, you're going to keep this one till you can't drive anymore. These new automatics have come a long way. I get rowing gears, but this will be your go to car when you sell your cuda and save the others as collectables...... and you will sell your cuda one day.

the SST TKO kit has been a blast to shift n have fun in. it is as easy to clutch/shift as my Subaru

im guessing the TKX is even sweeter

awesome choice!

Drilled a bunch of holes today in the tail panel & also to attach the upper door pads on the inside of the two door shells.

Apparently the mirror control is in a different location whether the car came with or without upper door pads. I'll drill out the new location tomorrow.

The spacer that I needed came in today so I got the transmission hooked up permanently and ran the line for the hydraulic throw out bearing.

It looks like it could fly, well done!!

Your gonna be living the dream when you get the car back from paint! A nice clean shell and clean brand new parts to assemble on it!

After another test fitting, there was some minor surgery needed below the wiper motor. I’ll have the body man weld in a small piece of metal. That cut out won’t bother the rotation of the wiper crank arm at all.

That's all you needed to trim. Cover it with chewing gum like factory would !
