Two ur wife is better than mine. She says a paint job is needed before she'll get in! Heck it's only 49yrs old! We drove ours from Ohio-Calif in '70 w/o AC in August on Rt.66.

bud why not a bit of both , my 63 was all racer back when , now street strip , wippers not needed for a hotrod good weather car , charger system , battery were it is , lights with turn sig's , brake lights . muff'rs for the meek , and police , lol . street rubb'r . mine has drag radials on the rear for those rides that believe their quicker , runs 11.82 in this trim , on pump gas motor . oh ya lic plates , again just for the cops , lol .

well if you must have wipers , some could be had on this site i bet , or the universal hotrod or jeep type could be applied , if you firewall has been modified . let me tell you driving a drag type car in the rain ate no fun . car can be a hand full on the dry surface .

who said horn , that what the gas peddles for . put them behind you . lol . oh ya i don't take long trips in it , 4.56 8 3/4 lock'd . heater is the engine running and exhaust drop enough heat to want the windows down , there were stacked up . found some hotrod electric lifters . installed them , doors are cut up abit . it was a racer for years . switches are hard to see there black . right were the glass handles would have been .

You're way ahead with that street motor and the fact the car isn't cut up and gutted. I'd just change enough to make the wife more comfy, maybe add some mufflers that actually muffle.

The seats that came with it are very comfy, once you climb over the roll bars, as far as mufflers go, she likes the open headers as much as I do.

never an issue here , just keep the rpm short on the shifter . unless there is a high demand for it , like a bike that needs to get put down , lol . that thing is a street car , maybe put a swing type roll bar front tubes in for easier access . so whats stopping you . she is the only one that it needs to please , right . oh ya cops too , lol . maybe that means you can build a ride for you , lol .

Definitely will have to replace the front Moroso skinnies and possibly the rear pie crust cheater slicks, those look great but not so good in the rain!

i run vintage americans magnesiums went to 6''alum wide fronts now , but will go back to 6'' magnesiums , still 10'' on the rear . american just cut prices and summit will delivery is free , street tires n race tires . i run 4'' magnesium americans up front with light eight drag tires for the track . their to rare to keep on the street , don't want to crack one . the little bit more front rubb'r helps it steer better around town .

If the driver holds the gear until a higher rpm than the convertor's stall speed, then yes, you get a bit of a harsh shift and the tires screetch. If you shift it conservatively, the convertor absorbs that shift and the pressure is lower overall making the shift. It's fine. I actually prefered it.

Other than the hole in the hood and lack of lights your race car sounds like my street car. I'd say fix the lights, hood and drive it!
Your 65 is a nice car..Even though I never listen to my own advise,,,,Think about this,,If I sell it will I be able to replace what I have for the same amount ? What will it cost to have what I want ? What will it cost to make what I have into what I want ? If I did just that 7 cars ago I would have a real nice 64 Belvedere.Did I do that ? Nope,sold it for something else. Right now I have a 63 Fury Project,(Tubs.cage)Body and paint done with all the parts to complete it to make a nice drag car or a street car.The wife said to me "Why not finish it ?" Hummm.. Just thinking out loud.Maybe I need to come by and sit on the porch with you and have a few..Good excuse for neither of us getting our cars done..!

My 63 is street/strip car as its mostly street since I only race it about once a year. I have my battery in the trunk and I run an electric fuel pump as the electric pump is always a good idea to help fight vapor lock and fuel boiling with this cheap pump gas we have today. I also run a reverse manual valve body and I love it. Its a hotrod and I like shifting it myself. I do have wipers but I see many street cars that dont as they just put Rainex on their windshield's. The fuel cell is no problem on the street as many use them. Myself I still use my stock gas tank. I do agree with having a horn as its nice to have it when someone may be backing up and not see you as I made sure my car has a good working horn. Good luck to you , Ron
