Tom Petty on life support after cardiac arrest - will not be down for breakfast . . .

Well you don't sound sincere. WTF is with old guys doing this kind of stuff. Talent and money doesn't make them smart.

Many entertainers (musicians & actors) just aren't the brightest bulbs on the Christmas tree.

Micheal Jackson. Heath Ledger. Prince...And Tom Petty.
All of them died earlier than they had to because they were using some type of medication far beyond what normal people use. I've had trouble sleeping, even to the point where I have taken Ambien to fall asleep. It is weird to think that some people have so much trouble, they need Ketamine or Phentanyl .
Petty must have either been zonked out of his mind to not feel the pain or just extremely dedicated to following through with his commitments.

RIP Tom, you will be missed

most the rest mentioned are just Liberal/Celebrity hacks anyway

You didn't piss on my corn flakes ********. You pissed on Petty's.
Here's one that's more your speed.

Compared to this. Listen to the lyrics and try to comprehend.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, I mock most everything, including myself, when the opportunity arises.

So don't take life so personally because if you do, you won't make it out alive.

I figured that out years ago RC. No foul. No offense. It's arguable that I may be a bigger Dick than even you.
On the other hand I don't need you to advise me on how to navigate life. You have no clue on what it means to "make it out alive".
We're talking about the passing of a music legend for ****'s sake. Show a little respect.

Unfortunately, TP is one of many music legends who are no longer coming down for breakfast due to drug use. No doubt, many more will follow.

Nice grasp of the obvious there RC. They lived their lives as they saw fit and contributed a great deal to society in their time.
What have you created or contributed to society lately by not burning yourself out on drugs? Surf the web?

Here's the list:
Fentanyl patches, oxycodone, temazepam, alprazolam, citalopram, acetylfentanyl and despropionyl fentanyl.
Wow. "Doctors" of the rich and famous. They have contributed to the deaths of a number of celebs that we know.
That is one helluva medicine cabinet.

More like a fruit salad.

So, what you're saying is burning oneself out on drugs is fine as long as one makes good music?
Often times comes with the territory.
He had multiple health problems and yet pushed through with a cornucopia of meds and that killed him.
Why so "hard" on Petty, RC?
I consider this a tragedy, and I also consider numerous others who have died from overdose a tragedy. Even if self-induced, it's sad that they didn't or couldn't find a way out.

No, what I'm saying is that who are we to judge how he lived his life when he spent his life giving much joy to so many?
If you have a spare 3 hours or so I recommend watching this I think it's still on Netflix.

I liked some of Tom's songs, but I just can't listen to 3 hours of him.Trust me, I'm not judging the guy's life, but what I'm saying is that when a guy in the music industry dies before his/her time, is it a big surprise that a drug overdose was to blame? I'm a big Who fan, but look at what Keith Moon did to himself at such a young age & at a much older age, John Entwistle foolishly ended his life prematurely. What should be asked is why are drugs so prevalent in that industry, and why is a person, at an age when they should be older & much wiser, hooked on them?

Don't take it so personal.

Big money, irregular "work" schedules for a start.
why is a person, at an age when they should be older & much wiser, hooked on them?
In his case, he had legitimate medical reasons for pain meds and sleep aids, but that is a risky, addictive, and tolerance building combination.
