Recently put a Craigslist sure grip in the coronet and its making a humming noise(WAW WAW WAW WAW). I know that it has too much additive because I used Royal Purple gear oil that doesnt need it plus a bottle of additive. I should read a little closer! Anyway, would too much additive cause it to make noise or does it sound more like Its rebuild time? It kind of sounds like a tranny with low fluid but checked the gear oil level and dripped out the fill hole. Thanks for your time. Stew

the additive is a friction modifier so it does not chatter going around corners

Would having the axle adjustment nut too tight cause noise? I set it with the "feel" method and it does have just enough play that you can feel it move. I may try backing it off a couple notches and see if it does anything. Thanks for the replies.

sounds like a bad bearing either on pinion, or carrier...either way, it's rebuild time
