What is the best fluid to use? I hear to use Type F, Dexron, ATF+4.....I'm confused. Thanks.

BEST? I know someone who has run Max Wedges for longer than a lot of the members here have been around, and he swears by running CAT 10W hydraulic oil in his. Saw one he had made passes with and dropped the pan on after pulling the motor. It was & span

I'd use Royal Purple ATF with their engine oil and diff lube. Infact I'd use RP P/S fluid and antifreeze additive too.

Interesting. I have heard ATF with a quart or two of motor oil is good. The only thing about the hydraulic oil makes me wonder if it's not too slippery for the clutches, but if the guy's tranny isn't slipping I suppose it's all good.

He swears by it. Said when his Ram was out of warranty he was putting it in there as well.

don't know if he did or not

His son is/was a Mopar tech. I asked him what he thought about that. He said "well that's what dad likes to do."

no OIL BAD!

One of the best all purpose atfs left is the Penzoil brand, still meets all the old specs and smells much better, the new valvoline is crap, smells and looks burnt.

Amisol and royal purple are very good but more $$ too.

In the old days with old type material on the clutches you could get a better shift with type F, but new performance kevalr bands dont need type F.
