My car has a cable shift center console, and I'm Putting in a (1970) late model trans, wondering what others are using for a cable shift, i checked out imperial services and they do make an adapter kit, for a whopping $195.00 Bucks (Shipped)

Has anybody adapted a B&M Shifter into there consoles !!
(or any other idea's would be cool)

Pics would be Awesome...Thanks !!

Get a B&M cable and your golden.

Did this on my 64 Sport Fury. Just got a B&M shifter, and mounted it so it lined up with the console cover slot. I have seen several cars using the Quicksilver shifter. I used a different one cause it was from a friend. The stock shifter won't work. It has the wrong lever ratio. Also would still need the lever and cable bracket for the trans.

I have the B&M Quicksilver shifter mounted in the factory console of my 65 Sport Fury. Just mount it so the shifter lines up in the factory slot. I went with the Quicksilver as it looks like the factory shifter (sort of). If you go with an aftermarket shifter, do yourself a favor and insulate the shifter cable (no matter how you route it).
Not the best picture, but all I have at the moment...

On my 63 I use the B & M Pro Stick mounted on the floor as I left my console out since it was in bad shape. I also use a 1970 trans in it. Ron

Can one of these shifters be used on the 727 original chrystler 64,65 BB cable shift tranny or do you have to install later version 66 and up. Whats the advantage of this swap from stock shifter.

I don't think so since the early trans uses a Park cable.

Hello Lenny...well my thoughts where, there's a much better torque converter selection for the earlier trans "1966 and up" because the latter trans have 19 spline versus the 24 spline...also I'm not spending an extra $500.00 just in cables..also if you have a 1964 and below those years use a ball & trunnion, not the slip yoke...mine being a 1965 it has the slip yoke (first year for it by the way... 1965)

Thanks moparcrazy; as it turns out I do have a real nice torque converter in the car its a dynamics combination steet/strip and works fantastic compaired to the TCI 3000 I had in it. Yes I know what you mean the cables are not cheap. Guess I will have to deal with the stock arangement for now. Thanks
