unintended acceleration

I did mean purely as an excercise for process of elimination purposes....not permanently, i should've clarified that.

It doesn't say "TOYOTA" anywhere on the car, does it?

Overcenter

If you are using the original throttle return spring bracket with a 4160, the return spring may be overcentering. That would cause the pedal to suck to the floor. Check the way the return spring is routed. When you post your pics it will be easier to see the problem.

I second this notion. Seen it several times with non stock carbs, with or without after market hi rise intakes.

What is "overcentering"? How do I identify this problem? Do the pictures I have posted help? What angle of photo should I get? I really don't want to mess with motor mounts if that is not the problem.

Thank in advance,
MFJ

Anybody have any other ideas?

Just to clarify... my throttle dose not stick, it gets sucked to the floor and then returns after a couple of seconds????

Have you checked the motor mount?

Yes I have, the passenger side is a little squishy (I can move the motor about 3/4 of an inch) but the driver side and transmission mounts are rock solid.

When you say you can move the motor mount, by what means are you "moving" it?

If you claim it is squishy, it should be replaced. They are not that expensive and opon removal you will be able to tell if it is in one piece or not.

On the other hand, I am pretty sure the driver's side is the torque side and that would be the one that would be causing your type of problem and you said that side is ok. Wow I can not wait to hear what is causing your problem. I would like to see a current picture of your linkage setup. How strong are your springs? It has to be something simple..
