Updating the Super Street Mopar

After doing some weed patrol, I was able to get some welding done today. The sheetmetal piece needs a little more file action before I secure it it. Plus need to push it down to the t-bar frame some.

Got the piece filed down then welded into place. Also put some welds on the SFC to the floor up front.

Marked the outer area for cuts to get it squared up before I make the next pieces.

I was able to get the three pieces cut and bent. Tomorrow I'll trim, fine tune and weld in.

Got the three pieces trimmed, secured then welded today. After I got them done, I made a pattern for the easy piece. Tomorrow I'll get it trimmed, drill holes, and Ospho it so it's ready to be welded in. For anyone interested, Cracker/Cereal/Pizza etc boxes are great material to have around for making patterns. Can't beat the price either.

After trimming the piece for a better fit, I held it in place with magnets and marked the backside so I could drill weld holes where there is structure. Knocked the burrs down, hit it with the Eastwood SCT unit using the carbide coated nylon brush to rough it up, wiped it down with Acetone till clean then wiped some Ospho on it. Tomorrow I'll weld it in. While I was killing time I marked and trimmed out a hole plug. Will weld that in also.

Other than grinding welds down some, the rh side is done. On to the lh side next.

you do much better work than i do... i'm way too lazy :)

Thank you for that. I have a great time doing this stuff, helps be remember how to use my metal forming skills plus add new ones. The TIG welding is getting better. I like that I can run the shade down into the sixes on the lower amp settings and see what I'm doing before I blow a hole through. Old eyes need more light to see. All of this inner stuff is going to help me when I get to the ducting of the cowl induction for the engine plus making the filter housing. INTMD8 gave me some ideas off his Hemi setup that he made. The last time I worked on that was in late 17 and I was kind of stumped then.

That's awesome.. i kinda lost interest in mine..after my seats got stolen i have no idea what i want to do now... hoping spring will get me back in gear :) Once winter hit i was just done

I plan on getting some seats from Procar. I marked the catalog for which one after I did a test sit at the SEMA show. I have the universal brackets which gave me the layout for the seat mount structure off of the SFC's. My car was originally setup for bench, Jeff put in correct buckets but there were no stiffeners underneath so over time the floor had tears in it. Another reason for the new mounting and sheet metal. I didn't get to any grinding today, went to Costco and the local grocery store. While I was in SLO, I went by where I used to work to use his stomp shear. Cut a bunch of small fill material up for future use. After I hit them with the SCT brush, wiped them down with Acetone then gave them an Ospho coating. That way they will be ready for use. After I forgot to rough up and Ospho the first trans tunnel piece, I've been making that a point to prep the new stuff just before I weld them in. Once all that stuff is done, I'll hose in some Eastwood frame coating into the seams, modified the wand hose by cutting off their nozzle and putting a squished down 16ga uninsulated butt connector in the hose end. Acts like a nozzle and is great for jetting the coating into seams. After the coating dries will seam seal and after that sets, brush on the POR15. Will probably use some Raptor or similar material on top of that.

Had some free time this afternoon, so I knocked some welds down. My next task will be to cap off the areas I cut through the floor for the SFC on the rh side. Once thats done, on to the lh side.

I was able to make up the fill pieces. Also did a little more weld grinding and cleaning prior to welding. Tomorrow I'll weld them in.

Started putting the pieces in. Had to use some various means of holding the pieces down for welding. I also scored a chunk of some sort of hardwood from a neighbor who is craftsman. Going to cut it out and make a metal shaping/slapping tool. It will get a strip of leather on the face. Always wanted one so this will be a low buck way to get it.

Rh floor is done. On to the left now. In between the work in the car the last couple of days, I took the time to get some of the grundge off the the old Kenmore washer that will become an ice/drink container on the deck. Need to get all of the grease/oil etc thats accumulated since 1936, when it was made, so I can spray a flat clear on the rusty/corroded stuff for patina protection from the salt air. The enamel coated drum and lid are fine. I've been using oven cleaner on it so far.

Nothing on the car but I did manage to cut out, shape and sand my new forming tool. Just need to get a 2"x16" piece of leather to fasten on.

Along with cleaning the last two pieces for the washer/cooler project, need to be clean of oils etc for the upcoming clear coat, I prepped some of the areas for welding and cut/bent/drilled two floor pieces. Going to weld them in tomorrow.

I thought my car had a lot of cutting and was pretty in depth till I read through what you have going on...

Sure does make mine look simple...

CK! That thing is looking strong as hell... just curious are you gonna be running 8s or faster? not sure what your plan is.. (and a bit too lazy to read back) :)
