Its doing the same thing that it was at the track the other weekend. I'm going to check all my connections when I get home. I think its the starter though. I had it running a while yesterday. Got it up to temp. and shut it down. Went to start it up and did the same thing hot.

Maybe timing I too advanced As I have experienced that too in the past. I always have an extra starter on hand As I don't want to be caught with my pants down at the track.

This is the starter of choice, especially if you have a lot of compression.

That IS the starter of choice but I will be getting mine rebuilt as I have a guy.

Go on ebay and buy a backup As you never know when you're going to need one. Unless you plan on using my spare in the trailer.

I went out to the garage today after work and it started right up. I love when stuff fixes itself!

I'm ready for Sunday except for the flat rear tire.
 
So the victor and 800 Holley are back off the car for now. I just can't focus enough to get that set correctly when the temps are in the low 30's and it's windy. Got the dual quads back on and see what it will do at Island tomorrow.

I think I may have an ignition issue. I was having problems getting the Victor intake/Holley carb setup running correctly. I couldn't figure out why as it seems simple enough to dial it in. Especially taking it off a running car and putting it on mine. So I went back to the dual quad setup and after playing with the timing a little more, got it back to where I thought it was before. I went to the track today and made my best pass to date. The second run, It left harder than ever. I'll have to look at the pictures, but I'm pretty sure both wheels were up. Right after it left, it started sputtering like the other setup. I did nothing in between passes. I got back to the pits and the car just stalled. Thought maybe I was out of gas. Put 5 gals. in and started it up and it wouldn't stay running. I was done for the day. I swapped out the distributor with a spare SUPERSTOCKRACER unit, but didn't want to run. I was able to limp the car home by two footing it. Going to try to switch MSD box out tomorrow with a friends unit. We'll see what happens.
 
Ok, so I have an update. I was trying different ignition boxes today to try and get the car running correctly again as I have no work this week. After changing boxes and playing with wires, I put my old timing light on and it didn't want to work for some reason. I have a snap-on digital dial back light that I know aren't supposed to be compatible with the MSD box. Timing seemed to be jumping all over the place. The car didn't respond to anything. I had an old MP distributor on the shelf in the garage and decided to throw that in. I didn't think it was going to do anything because I put a new Firecore distributor in this summer. What do you know. Both timing lights worked and the timing was completely stable. Took the car out on the street and man, did it feel good. I don't know what happened to the Firecore unit, but it didn't hold up to what I was putting it through anyway. AS much as I hate to admit this, but SUPERSTOCKRACER was right. He told me not to buy it so I did. The MP one in there now is stock, so I will just change to the lighter springs and it should be good to go. If we get the snow that they are expecting on wednesday, I'll be done for the year. I want to try the Victor/Holley setup again.

As an added bonus, We got beast Jr. on the road today as well. While tracing wires on the coronet, I found a loose connection which was causing a no spark deal.
