Want to talk about NSS Cars intellectually.

thanks Ron you have one of the nicest 63 plymouths i have seen nice car and fast to boot.

Thank you. You have one beauty yourself ! I just love looking at the older 60's NSS cars like all of us have ! I feel like I never grew up when I get around our cool cars. :hello2: Ron

You guys mentioned American Nostalgia West - The guy who runs it is Dave Franklin, ANW runs the AFX class every year at the California Hot Rod Reunion. They are a great bunch of guys, Dave races a cool '61 Ford Starliner that runs 10-0's. In 2007 I registered run in the AFX class @ CHRR, over 30 cars showed up for 16 spots. Dave let's me know that I have to gualify to make the field but if I don't I can run exhibition for the weekend. So I figure if I don't qualify I't will still be a hoot. Well I qualified 15th and went all the way to the final (lost) It was a blast , I got paid, got ink in National Dragster, MCG and Muscle Car Review. First time on 4 tenths tree too. The rules are pretty lax at that event, the main thing is that the cars look the part. I have seriously considered getting my '66 right so I can run in NSS if I wanted too. Actually all my car needs to be a legal NSS car is dual carbs and that brings me to my question for you gents...what is the best inline dual quad intake available? I've seen that giant Indy dual quad manifold but that thing is 1500 bucks. Is the Modman manifold anygood? My car runs 10.60's and I really dont want slow it down with a bad intake. Here is a pic in the staging lanes before the final at CHRR the other car was an aluminum nose '64 fury. I treed him but he got around me.

is that white one yours. if so awesome. one of my favorites and thats no bull.
beautiful car. if you have max wedge ports, the indy bathtub 440-25 inline is the best one out there. i can get it for a little over $1100.00 which is reasonable for the power it makes.

Hey "4406brl" what does your runner 60 ft ? I only ask because with your 118 mph you have easy 11.30's with good hook and a decent 60. I would think you would need to 60 in the 1.50's as my old combo ran an 11.49 @ 116 with a best 60 of 1.57. So if you get your 60's in the high 1.50's with your 118 mph you got at least 11.30's ! Ron

Back when it was fast it would 1.49 to 1.51 all the time. Now that I added 400 pounds, took the 5.13's out and used those street tires I only went to the track once and I was playing with the carbs and clutch. I think it was a 1.90's:angryfire:

So I will be getting a set of 26x12.5x15 M& H slicks for this year so I can get some rpm's of the line. My trap RPM was 5400 on that run.

I AGREE,if you DON'T have max wedge ports, that STR-14 intake that ActionAnge is selling is the hot ticket. he has proven it makes power. He did the internal mods and it works. I ran one on a small 446 ci edelbrock headed motor and went 11.08 in a 3650 lb. max wedge savoy.

Here's a pic of the STR manifold.
And how it looks installed.

I run Indy EZ's (standard port) so I guess the STR would be my choice it - is a nice lookin manifold, I especially like the mods to eliminate the steel intake pan gasket. If you went 10.27 with that it should work for me. It must make some HP if you went 131 with it. Do you use 500 or 600 CFM carbs? I imagine I would have to use edelbrocks. Are transbrakes allowed in NSS? When I foot brake my car I leave at idle, in order for the car to leave right I have to put really big squirters in the carb - is it possible to fatten up the pump shot on the Edelbrocks? What would you say the working RPM range is on that manifold?

Thanks man

"Actioangel" thats an awesome shot of your sweet 67 Ply ! And "theman440" has one sweet Dodge that I really like. And they both run great. Great looking Mopars guys !

best run is 9.96@137 at Atco in october.
it usually goes [email protected]

I find it so ironic that the word intellectually in the title thread really confused a few that are so heavily involved in the NSS scene.I wonder if they used the thesaurus to figure out the meaning.
The word of the day is IRONIC!
