My hottie sister-in-law calls me last night and tells me she's getting bit by the retro car bug, and after wondering why I like driving old cars for years, now she wants to relive her glory days. The problem is she grew up in the 80s, and she wants me to help her find a car like the first car she ever had... a 1989 Ford Probe GT Turbo.

After doing some looking around I found these cars are seen less than Bigfoot. I've got lines on eight 73/74 Road Runners, my car of choice, within a few hours of me, but I've only been able to find a whopping one car for sale that comes close to what she's wanting, in the country! Who knew us old Mopar fans had it so good.

Anyone who grew up in the 80s and 90s, and who might possibly ever be driven to want a car from that era, you better get it now because these cars are not sticking around.

The $5K deal on old cars probably wiped out most of the 80's and many 90's cars .. that weren't already junked that is. Probably a good many of our fav cars too

Bruz what color probe is she looking for ?

I have been thinking about that recently. My first car, yes it was a chebby, was a 85 Monte Carlo SS. I love mopars, but there is just something about that car that I still love. Mine was black with a maroon interior and I swear every cop in town knew that car. Been thinking about secretly picking up another one after I finish up my RR build :)

Her first one was black but I think she's open to other colors. We found a silver one in Indiana she's looking at now.

it must be your location. they are everywhere around here , where mopars are pretty scarce

My question is why, they were POS & junk the 1st time around, rusty crap even here where stuff doesn't really rust very much, just like 99% of the 80's & early 90's Fords... The only Fords worth a hill in beans was the f-150 to f-350's or Cop's Crown Vic's, Thunderbirds or even better any of the NHRA Pro-Stocks of Bob Glidden back then was the only good Probe-stock...LOL... I know it was her 1st car & all, but you really should be a better bros. in law & steer her in a much better direction... if you/she has to absolutely have one... Good Luck, you'll need it, I hope her husband doesn't shot you, afterwards...LOL...

Same car as the Mazda MX6. I love looking for cars like this. You can get the VERY VERY best optioned out best models for not much money.

RC are you lurking in the back ground again

Sounds like you'd like to probe the hottie sister-in-law.

The thought has crossed my mind from time to time. :)

There are lots of the 1992+ (2nd Gen) Probes around, and older GL models, but the turbo GTs from 85-91 are damn tough to find... which, of course, is what she just has to have. :(

BTW, these first gen Probes were originally the 5th gen Mustang until the Pony folks found out Ford was going to hit them with a FWD Mustang and the horsepoo hit the fan. :)

Junk goes to the junk yard bro!

I would imagine her dream car contains a LOT of plastic that is not being re-popped at this time. Good luck finding one that has been taken care of.

99% of those Probes went to the shredder years ago and rightfully so. What a pile................ many parts on that car were also 89 "only" I haven't seen ANY in my area for a long time. Good luck

And they didn't die alone. I've been wondering about the late 80s and 90s cars for a while now, especially Mustangs. Those cars were EVERYWHERE back in the day and now I see more 60s Mustangs driving around than 80s cars.
