What did you do to your Mopar today?

Tried to test drive the '55 Plymouth. Didn't make it out of the driveway. The alternator pulley was out of alignment.

Replaced the positive batt cable yesterday, wrapped it with a DEI heat shroud. Was having hot-start issues.
For the life of me, don't know why I didn't just replace it during the 2 1/2 year resto. Would've saved myself 5 hours yesterday.

Safe to say the old cable needed replacing

When under my 65 Dodge to remove the upper 2 bolts on my 4 speed. Some jerk really tighten them up. took 45 mins to remove them. Friend dropped off his brand new trans jack for me to use. Should have cut the trans tunnel and made a new one.
Used a BFH so the blow shield would fit. Maybe a 4 speed hump would have helped? made my own it looked like a 66 or newer hump. The pre 66 tunnels are different.

Went under the 65 Dodge to scope a plan for pulling trans. Put some blocks on trans jack so trans doesn't roll off the side. The reason for scoping and planning is it's real tight because of motor set back. Crossram is only 5/8" from firewall can't tilt engine down to much. The shifter mount is 3/4" from cross member and trans needs to be pushed to the pass side 1/4" to be able to move trans backward.
Then the s#@t started. Had a chair 2 feet from my Satellite stood up and turn around turned my ankle and fell on my Big ***. Knocked chair over and put a small ding in door of Satellite XX%%*&#@. Turned ankle because can't feel my feet much. Sitting there thinking did I dislocate my ankle like I did the other ankle in 2009. Thank god no, 15 months to recover from that, complications added 6 months to that.
Could have been worse.

Fran, I don't know your age, But I would bet near or past minimum retirement. I say that because we say " could have been worse " an awful lot!
I expect just removing the shifter handle will not be enough, and you will have to take off the whole shifter. Good luck ..................MO

The tits on the tail shaft, all else is removed. Keep reminding my self I got it in there. Only thing I didn't have cross ram on. I'm only 3/4" off drag link. So I'm limited on how much I can tilt the motor.

You saying I got a fat *** I totally agree!

I got the 383 torn down to a short block to prepare it for cleaning, new gaskets, paint. Might have the 906 heads tanked and pressure tested - might use them instead of the original 516 set.
Good news - the motor had been rebuilt at one point - 040 pistons. Going to try to flush it out, put in all new gaskets, and try to run it.

Removed the shiny parts from the fenders and grill. Getting ready to respray the fenders and new hood. The car was painted by the previous owner before I bought it in 2012. He said there were some scratches in the paint so he resprayed the fenders, cowl and hood. But he didn't get the paint matched; it's a tad darker than the rest of the car and it's been bugging me all this time. It will be nice to have the car all the same color/shade for a change.

NO-NO-NO, I didn't say that ! A friend ( girl of course) grabbed my butt and said "you got no *** ! " I told her it all went to belly .
Don't know if your motor mounts can stand it, but you could drop one side of the drag link to get more clearance.......................MO

Pulled the 440 block out of the bed of my truck with the neighbor's help. He whined and cried the whole time say's it was too heavy for a car. What did I expect, he's forty-three, lifts weights and is muscular. Not to harp on the guy, but he's always calling me to ask about something, borrows tools asks for help on his cars and truck. I could go one about this neighbor but that's not why I post here. Chucked the block in the engine stand and proceeded to chase all the tapped out all the bolt holes and blew out the passaages. This block was baked not hot tanked. I left it at the machine shop for a week and it flash rusted everywhere. I guess I'm going to have the machine shop downtown hot tank it, as they are to install the cam bearings. Something the first shop couldn't do. Fifty bucks out the window. He did do up my heads, they look good as nearly I can tell. Forty bucks a head to recondition them. Won't get much done tomorrow. Have the garden to tend to in the morning and physical therapy at eleven. I may swing by the shop downtown and drop the block off Friday morning. Funds are short right now for this project, so any more shop work and parts will have to wait till I get my mad money built up.
