What did you do to your Mopar today?

Couldn't loosen pinion nut with a 1/2" drive breaker bar and a 18" pipe on that, without busting that Tues.. Ordered a 1-1/8" 3/4" drive socket came in late yesterday. With the 3/4" breaker bar and a piece of pipe to make it 30" long and leaning on it hard it came loose. Removed yoke and of course a .005 groove where seal rides. Called NAPA order a Speedi sleeve #NOS 99187. 10 spline 1330 u-joint yokes are hard to find, I think.

Did edit on speedi sleeve also NAPA website lists it $49.35 my dealer is selling it to me $28, go figure.

Replaced my old-and-busted center air vents...

....with a set I pulled out of a '74 Satellite. Not exactly the same, as they don't have the two fixed posts inside, but in otherwise perfect condition. $3.95 each (with the requisite $2 junkyard entry fee of course)..

New ROCKER ARMS UNLIMITED rocker arms/shafts/hold-downs, ARP studs & Smith Bros. pushrods. All the parts are looking excellent!
Gary mocked up an engine with my head & gasket and dialed it all in so it's ready to go together.
I'm taking a box of parts to builder on Sunday.
Gary also refaced the old hyd. lifters for me. I really can't say enough nice things about him. Their website isn't on par with the work they do so GIVE THEM A CALL. Excellent customer service!

Cell phone camera doesn't do the work justice.
I may get some clear valve covers made so all that pretty work can be seen...

Today, I had the pleasure of replacing passenger side engine mounts in my 2004 Neon R/T. Including the one mounted in the frame rail. I had been putting it off for months. But, once I decided to just do it, it wasn't too bad. Took about 4.5 hours working alone. Worst thing was having to constantly jack the engine up and down to gain access to different fasteners.

While I was working on it, I noticed that the battery was over 5 years old, so I just went ahead and put in a new one of those.

media blasted engine bay and cleaning everything up. tomorrow is the trunk will blast it and mark everything to cut out wheel wells for mini tubs.

I didn't know the later ones would interchange with 68-69. They look much sturdier, and have more directional vanes. They have to work better.
On your other old vent, do you have the little cross link that ties all the vanes together , so when you move the center , the rest of them move with it? I could use one of those...........MO

Sorry, those were missing on my old vents. The later ones are the same size and mount right in place of the early style with no trouble. The differences are very subtle..silver edge paint on the 68s was all worn off. The edges on the later ones are slightly thinner, but it's one of those things that only the most serious mopar brains would notice...the old style has the two fixed metal vanes on each vent where the later has plastic movable vanes all the way across. (I have no A/C anymore anyway but it beats looking at those old crusty pieces!)

Even make them for harmonic balancers were front timing seal sometimes leaks.

NAPA has hundreds I went through over a 100 (didn't look at all of them) of them before I found the right one. The one I posted fits both 8.75 and Dana 60 yokes. Why so many, the installation cup I believe. The depth of the cup puts speedi sleeve in the proper place on yoke. The one for mine is only a 1/2" wide so get it in the right spot. Think if you put it on to far your screwed.

Picked up Speedi-Sleeve. After I clean yoke, will install it. Thinking of putting yoke in freezer for an hour to make it easier. The sleeve is .010 thick. Directions back assward of course.

Got the black wrinkle 440 valve covers, and the aluminum master cylinder w/ adapter. Also got the fuel tank. Hooked the Audi steering wheel shaft to the steering gear box finally. Working on stitching up the '86 Ram hood skin to the '67 Coronet hood frame. Got the paint in that I had returned the other color finally.
