What did you do to your Mopar today?

Finally got my distributor problem solved. I had cleaned the mechanical advance (really cruddy and binding) and installed a new vacuum advance ( old one did not work at all) When setting the timing I got factory specs out of the vacuum, but could not out of the stock mech advance. Somebody mess with the springs?? Problem was, the slots that limit how much the weights could move were too short. lengthened them out a bit with a die grinder and now wights can move out to obtain factory spec.... Took the Satty to the body shop ( first highway miles on rebuilt engine) ran great, power brakes work good now too. If the stars all align , she will be painted this week in time for our local car show.......................MO
 
Short slots were often used, usually by welding up the factory slots a bit to limit total advance. The reasoning was to allow more initial advance without going past the desired maximum advance.
 
Since my dash cluster is out, I spent the day tracing out the dash wiring and back checking the shop that I paid way too much money to do things wrong. I had to cut a lot of zip ties and unwrap a lot of electrical tape. It gives meaning to the word tedious, but it needs to be done. For some reason, instead of just plugging the harness's built-in plug into the back of the lighter, they made their own wire and plugged it into the accessory circuit. So, it's a slow process checking all those wires but a process I feel I have to suffer through.
 
I realized that the spring I fitted to the wiper arm of my '55 Plymouth, while a significant improvement over what was there, just wasn't really strong enough to pull the blade firmly against the glass. So, I installed a pair of ANCO adjustable arms. While I'm not thrilled with the appearance, it's a worthwhile trade off to have functional wipers.

Drove the RR down to Portsmouth NH for an appointment. With flowmaster 40s it set off a car alarm in the parking garage. LOL Took all the back roads coming home to test the new suspension and steering.
 
Pulled the meats off the rear and had to put the new right side E brake cable onto the left side brakes so I took both sides apart and also replaced the old wheel cylinders with brand new ones. Now both e brake cables come evenly to the center of the tunnel, through the tunnel ridge and into the Audi E brake center pull handle assembly. I placed the cable stop/brace that I cut away, when relocating the rear springs, on top of the center tunnel jus

t ahead of the ridge which oddly enough was the exact distance from cable housing end to the ball end on the E brake frame. 8 1/4". Bolted that down and it works fine. Now for a bit of cosmetic work and sealing up the cut out, primer, then I can finally take everything apart. Also need to rig up some kind of dual clamp/guide to get the cables up out of the way of exhaust and drive shaft and also get them heading straight into the floor.
 
I'm afraid I'm going to have to change the style of your build from "resto-mod" to "full on custom".

You know that those MH 440 water pumps have a larger opening cast into them for the water to flow though? It's like three times as large as a car WP. I kept the one I took off the MH 440.

Yeah, it's getting ridiculous. Today I fabricated the steel panel between me and that fuel cell. lol. Insurance.
I also worked out how to connect the filler to the fuel tank. I'm going to have to cut a 1 3/4" hole in the deck lid gas lift brace/mount and slide a steel pipe through there and connect two 90* elbow rubber gas lines to the ends. I'll weld that tube into the brace. should look cool. I have to get funky with it to miss the deck lid hinge swing arc.

Thanks Sonny but I have no interest in aftermarket parts as you noted.....I only seek original parts...

Who dat is? Never mind, I looked him up. Wow, what a compliment. Thank you sir. I am nowhere near that talented though. I'm just mucking about up here...
 
Yep just looked for flyers and pics and it closed down after 55 years :(

Was an annual event for me and my uncle from the mid 1970's when I was about 5 or 6 until the late 1980's when I moved from OH to FL. (RIP Uncle Buck)

I think it was a mid/West thing as folks in FL don't know about it.

Saw technically my first rock concert there in 1977- Brownsville Station.

Also met Lou Ferigno, Catherine Bach, and several others I can't remember.

Ghost's build is definitely "in the spirit".
